I've been curious about this. i DID NOT feel well after my mcat, yet i never felt good after my practice tests yet i scored pretty well on them.

for those who have taken the mcat, how did you feel after you walked out versus how you actually scored? did you remember and kick yourself over questions that you realized you missed/answered incorrectly, as i have done for this past week?

Everyone I know felt like they'd had a swift kick in the pants when they left the testing center. Scores varied, but honestly, the way you feel truly may say nothing about what your score actually is.

elizalandry, i've been doing the same. mainly for bs since that was the last section i took and i can't remember the rest. but now i can't remember anything at all. it's best not to worry about it. i thought i did okay after the test. hoping for a 34.

I've rarely seen people who feel good after taking the MCAT. However, in most cases, they do just fine. I felt like crying when I walked out (and then felt bad for a whole month because I was thinking I should have voided my score), but things turned out great. I'm sure you did just fine. When your score comes out, you'll look at this thread and wonder how you could have been so worried.

:luck:

I felt great walking out. It wasn't because I thought I did amazing or anything, it was because I was done for the time being. Plus, literally across the street from the test center were......let's just say Las Vegas type of entertainment (and I don't mean casinos, though it was part of one)......No I didn't go in, but it brought a smile to my face.

I felt like PS really went badly after my exam, but it ended up being not too bad.

I consistently read that you get close to your AAMC average on the real thing, and although it didn't feel like it after the exam, it turned out to be true for me. I essentially got my average, maybe 1 point lower

I actually felt really good after the test, thought I'd done better than my avg due to better focus, etc - but ended up scoring right about my avg (maybe a point lower). Not terrible, but not the big bump I was hoping for. Still, not awful! Good luck to everyone!

I thought my MCAT was considerably harder than any of the practice tests I had taken. Maybe it was the nerves. I felt unprepared for PS, I felt mentally drained by the end of VR, I felt awful about my essays, and I was hit hard in BS with one of the hardest sections I'd ever seen. All in all, I felt pretty beat up, but inside I knew I didn't screw it up. I ended up with a 35Q, which was where I was hoping it would be.

got a 33Q for 5/22 test...average aamc was 28. honestly i didn't feel that bad leaving the test... felt great about physical, which landed me a 13. verbal iffy, but understood all passages well... and bio felt liek ****, but got 11... so w/e you will never feel great.. but i did feel better then practice test honestly

Felt absolutely awful walking out, and had the highest score I've ever gotten. So there was really no correlation for me. I think part of it is if you feel 80% sure about your answer on a practice test, you feel confident about that question ... but on the real test if you only count questions you are completely sure about. Therefore you feel like you did a lot worse than you should.

The way I felt after the exam was actually suprisingly accurate in reflecting my real score. I walked out that day feeling that I destroyed the physical science, did okay with the verbal (it was easier than I expected), and did poorly with the biological science. Ended up getting a 14 for the PS, 12 for the VR, and 11 for the BS.

What kind of shocked was that when I took my practice tests, my feelings did not accurately gauge my scores at all, eg. I would finish one exam thinking that I failed epically and end up with a 39 and then get a 30 on another one that I felt I excelled at.

First Time:
AAMC 11 Score(taken day before real test): 27
Actual MCAT:........................................... 28 (7/6/2011)
Feelings after test: I felt really crappy. For many weeks, I regretted not preparing enough. I was expecting anything from 20-25 right after I took the test.

Second Time:
AAMC 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 average: 34-35
Actual MCAT:..........................[pending] (7/6/2012)
Feelings after the test: Oh man...not that feeling again?! Ya, I felt pretty bad. Statistically, i shouldn't do worse than a 31. I know I did atleast better than a 28, which I'm happy about. But still, once you taste the high scores on the practice tests, it becomes very difficult to be satisfied with less than your best. But I think I'll be satisfied with a 33, because I need a score like that to get in anywhere.
