Howard Interview- please help?

Hi everyone,

I just found out that I got invited to an interview for next week! I really don't have that much time to prepare at all; I don't know if I should go or reshedule? The lady in admissions said they don't have another date yet. 😕

I'm coming from California. Which airport should I fly into, and how do we best get to the school from the airport? I read over this info at Howard's website, but was wondering if you could help from personal experience?

May I ask, when did you apply (PharmCAS) and when did you take the PCAT?

PharmCAS is taking a very long time to send in my August PCATs.

Me too hope to see you there. Are you coming from out of state? I am coming from florida. It is going to be a long trip. I called a lady at howard and she said to bring in the official transcripts when coming and also the supplementary application. If you have any questions let me know. Gud luck.

Edit: @chem1033: I have a flight to catch at 6pm too! How are you getting to the campus (after arriving at the airport)? I'm taking a shuttle. I read on another thread that the math test includes algebra, basic arithmetic, and some calculus (drat, I need to review). As for the english test, it'll be on a current event.

I'm glad to find others in the same boat as me too. My interview is set for 14th at 11am as well.

But I don't know what I should do, guys. This date doesn't work well for me 🙁 . I'm in a busy time, and flying to interview there will take two days at least. Plus, it costs a lot of money.

The lady in admissions said that if we wish to reschedule, they will reconsider us for a different date and notify us later. But will this jeopardize our chances? Can anyone who has rescheduled tell me their experience please? 🙁

Last year when i went there for the interview, it was like that too. They called on Thursday asking if i can be there on Tuesday. I asked if they can reschedule, but they said that was the only date. I interviewed at their first interview around this time as well.

For those that have an early flight, they will ask you what time your flight will be and will try to get you to interview with the interviewers first. I had my flight the next morning, so I was pretty much the last one to leave. That was around 4-5 PM. Their schedule usually doesn't run on time as I have heard from other people as well.

When you get there, you will be ask to take a 30 min exam or something like that. It consists of basic calculations, derivatives, roman numerals, and dilution of some sorts. Humm i don't remember there being an English test, but it's been a while and quite a few interviews ago. Or they could have changed it this year.

I went on Ronald Regan National Airport and I think that's the closest one, as far as i know. Other people at my interview went to some other aiport that was about 30 miles away or something.

They have all the feedback from old interviews and what types of questions they will ask. I had the same questions with the people that left the feedback.

I just had an interview and it went well and was pretty simple.

You basically go thru a one-on-two interview, maybe an one-on-one interview.

There was only four of us dis time around, but they get about 30 students for the next round of interviews. So much of your time there is basically waiting for the interview. (But it was only four of us, so it went by pretty quickly.)

There is an easy multiple-choice math test. 30 min-time limit, no calculator. Easy derivatives and integrals and lots of multiplication😀.
You may get an essay test, it depends...we didn't get one😎.

You get a tour as well, which is informative. And that's about it. It was quite simple for that day since it was the four of us.

Relax. Breathe. And you will be fine. It really depends on who you interview with. So keep your fingers crossed.

When I interviewed last year, it was like what everyone said...very disorganized. There were times when we didn't know why we were waiting. They started us off with a math test (very simple!), and for those that didn't have a writing portion on their PCAT, they had to do a writing test. We then had a tour and then more standing around waiting for interview. Interviews are one-on-two or one-on-one interview, I lucked out with a 1-on-1 interview. Don't stress, just do your best and be professional.

I also got an acceptance from Howard right after Thanksgiving. However, since I've already deposited $ @ Midwestern, I'll be declining the offer.

I was torn though. I really like the dual program (pharm.d/mba) and the cheap tuition!! Plus, the students and interviewers were so nice! But, as I stated at my interview, whichever school offers me a seat first, I'll accept that offer.

The applicant must be in good academic standing at each college or university attended and must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 (4.0 scale) in Sciences, Mathematics, English and Speech and an overall GPA of 2.5 in all pre pharmacy courses.

Is Howard really THAT easy? No offense. Gives me hope. ha.
