First, I'm a new member of this great site and I look forward to helping out when I can.
So I'll be applying to podiatry school in 2012, probably to all of them (nine total, right?), and I wanted to see what you guys think of my situation. I'm a senior taking Inorganic Chemistry to complete my chemistry minor but things haven't gone well due to family reasons, it looks like it will be quite a struggle just to get a C(-). So I was thinking about forgetting the chem minor, withdraw to save my gpa (currently 3.44, science is 3.53, chem GPA ~3) and get outta here while I still can. The problem is this will my my third W (First one during sophomore year was Calculus II which I retook for a B and second was University Physics during junior year which I switched to General Physics and received an A- both semesters) and I know all the pre-med/dent/pharmacy people say no more than two although some say they were accepted with more than that. My other chem grades are marginal: Gen Chem I/II and Orgo I=B-, Orgo II=C+, Biochem=B and Environmental Chem=A. I'm a solid Bio major; 3.81 with A's in Microbiology, Anatomy, Biology and Biochemistry of Proteins and Cell Biology in addition to a whole lotta A-'s.
The dean of admissions from Temple visited my university for a information session and he seems like the coolest dude ever; maybe he has a preference for the school I attend? How do you think I should approach this? Before you answer, "Don't give up," please understand the Inorganic final is cumulative, worth twice the amount of points as the other tests and I really don't like my chances (plus the professor and I don't get along whatsoever).
