This will help you figure out your cGPA and BCPM GPA for yourself. All college grades earned should be included (including dual HS credit), as AMCAS will do so, regardless of "academic renewal" policies of individual institutions, as knv2u stated. They will require an original transcript be submitted from every institution attended.I've been scanning my transcripts up and down and feel like I have not fulfilled most requirements, or didn't earn a high enough GPA. I've been trying to calculate my sGPA and for the life of me I can't do it or I don't think its very accurate (I think its 3.509?).
I have attached my transcripts here, with my identity hidden, so I can get some sort of assessment from the helpful SDN community.
I have some questions about my transcripts:
1) What is my sGPA?
2) These Withdrawals were medical withdrawals, but there're still "W's" so will they count against me?
3) In the eyes of medical school admission staff, how good or bad is my transcripts?
4) Am I missing anything?
but First heres my info:
The Good:
-I have a B.S in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a minor in Chemistry.
-cGPA 3.57 from CSUN (125units)
-cGPA 4.00 from community college (8 units)
-sGPA 3.509??
-Received General Education Honors Award, basically taking honors G.E courses and completing the program.
-202 hours of UCLA Care Extender Volunteering
-Six months of Health Externship
-Three months of Community Service working with poverty.
-One semester of small time research (I counted yeast cells... so exciting!)
-The highest score on Practice MCAT from Princeton review was 30.
- I am not in debt!
The Bad
-MCAT Score (just received today Oct. 15, 2013)
Total score=25
P=10
B=9
V=6 <----- Who invented English anyway?
-No research publication
-Did two science researches, got the credit and a grade A, but I don't feel like I've accomplished much from the other. I don't think I qualify to get letters of recommendations from my research professors.
-Been over a year since I graduated, might have difficulty finding letter of recommendation.
The Ugly
- Have 5 W's. (Cause a DUI driver decided to put me in a concussion until I woke up in a hospital. Yeah I know right)
- Repeated a course (Quantitative Chemical Analysis 3 times). Once because I got a D and couldn't get a the medical withdrawal for that class after DUI accident hit me, then I got a C, then I asked the dean for one last chance and got a B+ the third time around.
- I also got a C in lecture/lab in Medical Microbiology. Which is really embarrassing.
- Retake my MCATs April 11th 2014.
In addition to my transcripts, I have a English Literature (3 unit) course and Spanish I (4 units) course from community college both with a solid A. In 2007, I did take some courses when I was 16 years old and I didn't intend for them to transfer over. However, I did get an academic renewal for courses I took before 2007 for Los Angeles Community College. Please ignore anything before 2007.
Oh yay, I had requiring headaches/migraines plus dizziness from the concussion so I realized I had to file for another medical withdrawal. It wasn't a good time and I was hesitant but I was advice to withdraw.This will help you figure out your cGPA and BCPM GPA for yourself. A W has no negative effect on your GPAs. A WF is different and is the equivalent to an F.Oh yay, I had requiring headaches/migraines plus dizziness from the concussion so I realized I had to file for another medical withdrawals.
