Thinking about next Fall.

Calc III (3)
Eng. Phys II (4)
O-Chem I +lab (4)
Bio I (4)
Survey Biochem (3) (could take in Summer as well)

The first two I need for my major. The others I need for the MCAT. In the Spring I would do:

Eng. Phys III (4)
Modern Phys (3) - 3000 level
O-Chem II +lab (4)
Bio II (4)
? (3/4)

Then MCAT.

Then a ****-ton for upper-div. Phys., but who cares.

I wouldn’t be working, so that’s a plus. Thoughts?

Personally, I wouldn't stress about taking biochem for the MCAT. You don't really need it. That's a lot of science for the semester. I'd take biochem in the summer and add a fun interesting class in there to get a break from the science.

The calc should be fine if you understood calc I. But the engineering physics, organic, and biochem at once will probably make you miserable.

I dont know, if that was my schedule i would hate myself around finals and midterms ha

Are you a physics major? or engineering?

Here are my thoughts (im physics).

I took Calc III and Bio together (i took physics I and II with calc I and II).
I wouldnt recommend Physics, Bio AND ochem together. I dont think you need to take biochem unless it is part of your major, its usually one of those "recommended classes." I took 2 science classes a semester, which worked out well for me.

What year are you in? if your in your first two, leave ochem out til your a junior, if not you should think about using a summer session for one of the sciences. You should probably get bio out of the way anyways before you do ochem.

Yeah, I'm really questioning the need for biochem.

This is for next year, which I'm hoping will be my "junior" year (bit of a nontrad). I don't want to take more than 3 years and I have a lot of upper level physics classes waiting for me, hence the proposed schedule.

It's not worth it...if you dont have to take those classes all at once and could spread them out through out other semesters, I would highly recommend that. I'm speaking from experience...

Current Class Schedule:

Physics II (4)
Microbiology (4)
Ochem II + lab (6)
Stats (3)

I would agree with Doc Poetry.

Current class schedule:

Gen Chem II + lab (4)
Health Psychology (3)
Psychology Junior Honors Seminar (3)
Thought, Language, and Behavior (3)
Calculus II (3)
Beginning Weight Training (1st 8 weeks) (1)

I would never recommend overloading yourself. I've done it and regretted it during midterms and then the rest of the semester.

For example here is last semesters (spring 2010) schedule in which I overloaded myself:

Gen Chem I + lab (4)
Cell and Molecular Biology + lab (4)
Abnormal Psychology (3)
Pediatric Neuropsychology and Neuroimaging (2)
Calculus I (3)
Beginning Weight Training (1)
Intermediate Weight Training (1)

The miracle is that I passed everything but the only A's I earned were in the weight training classes.

I can't really spread them out, but I can omit the biochem, which I think I've decided on. Thanks for the input, all. I'll stick with phys, org, calc, and bio. I can handle four classes.

Is there a particular reason you cannot spread it out?

I think that omitting biochem would be wise. Four science classes is tough but manageable if you invest the proper amount of time. good luck...soon (probably next fall) I'll be taking Calc 2, Pchem, biochem, and biochem lab...so to tell you otherwise would be hypocritical of me. again, good luck

Looks like you've already gotten the advice you were looking for.
I was going to say that taking that many classes is going to be rough. I took orgo and physics together along with 2 other upper (400 or higher) bio classes for my major and I wanted to die. I did soo much better in orgo when I decided to take a gap year in my physics sequence.

Just to throw an idea your way, I know many people who postpone Orgo till later. The orgo on the mcat can easily be learned by yourself if you've got the drive.

Anyway, good luck! 😛 I'd probably take that bath with a blowdryer if I was a physics major.

Speaking as an engineer who has yet to take less than 16 credits a semester, I'll just say that you're probably the only one who knows whether you can take the course load or not. I've had friends crack under less, and other friends do that and more in a semester quite handily- although I'd watch out on overloading physics courses later on. You definitely want to try and spread those out if you can because they'll eat up your time without you realizing it, especially if you had hoped on getting anything else done that semester!
