Has anyone been approved for the Army HPSP four year scholarship for this year (or previous years)? If so, were you able to go to DCC the summer before med school? I was just boarded, and am hoping for good news from my recruiter. But in the spirit of being prepared, I'd like to know if it's possible to attend DCC this summer

I was selected by the army board a few months ago. At the time my recruiter told me since I had applied earlier that I would probably be able to go to DCC before 1st year. I think he mentioned briefly I would just have to have contracted by March of 2018 in order to make the cut for this summer. If that info is accurate then I think you would probably narrowly make the cut.

Yup & if at all possible do DCC before MS1, looking at taking boards 2-3 days after getting out of M2 before heading to BOLC is kind of a bummer

Sorry for the delay; took me exactly one month for them to tell me unofficiallyI was selected and like 6 weeks before I was able to commission.

Can anyone confirm the March thing? I’m kind of freaking out now because my recruiter is awful and has made mistakes that have delayed my app for almost 2 months now. FINALLY said everything was good and now he’s saying 2 of my letters won’t work and I need to get 2 more...so another delay. If I was to get accepted, I’m kind of freaking out about not being able to go to DCC this summer before classes start. I really don’t want to have to worry about going to BOLC after M2

So I've heard that March 31 is the cut off date to be commissioned in time for DCC. But I have also heard April 15. I was selected for HPSP on Jan 23, and my recruiter said it could take 90 days before scroll orders come down. So chances are high that you won't be doing DCC this summer because you still have to be boarded, then it takes 2 weeks from board date to know if you're selected. Plus the possible 90 day wait period for scroll, there's a slim chance you will be commissioned in time to get orders for DCC. This is all based on what I have been told so take my experience anecdotally, but if I was you I wouldn't be hopeful. I'm not expecting to go this summer.
