I didn't get offered the four year hpsp. he said im on a merit list? The army is full for their four year scholarship and now is at a close. anyone have any advice of my status and what will happen? ={
More than likely you will be wait-listed and offered a 3 yr scholarship in the fall.

Make sure that you stay in touch with your recruiter throughout your enrollment in dental school. As people drop out or don't take scholarships, you need to keep your name up there in case a 4-year becomes available.
Second, contact the recruiter who covers your dental school if it's not the same person you've already been working with. If it's the same person you are fine. Make sure they know who you are and that you still want a 4-year.
I have never heard of a 3.5 year scholarship, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
KRMOWER is right, you will likely be offered a 3-year in the Fall, somewhere around the start of the new Fiscal Year (FY), which is OCT 1.
Good luck!
there is are 3.5 yr scholarships. they apply to people who applied in the late fall semester of their 1st yr in d school. it's pretty much same as 4yr one in terms of benefits and obligations, except you missed one semester's worth of tuition, stipend, etc.
from my class, 3.5 year was actually pretty easy to obtain.
im in 4 year hpsp but 2 of my classmates are in 3.5 hpsp and both took 20k sign-up bonus and are going to stay for 4 years of service.
army will reimburse for equipment but you will have to pay for first trimester tuition (since usc is trimester system, 3.5 scholarship is actually 3.75 scholarship and you end up paying about 20k+ for first trimester tuition but you can also receive 20k bonus if you want to pay back 4 years)
either way congrats on getting into school and you will love usc (esp. being in the army, it's the best thing)
Yeah that's why I was asking. I applied late too. Bummer since, if you're going to do it, the 4yr makes the most sense.
Got notified a few days ago that I got a 4 year HPSP. Signed the paperwork and commissioned yesterday.
The waitlist is moving 🙂
Army.
Navy is done this year (trust me, I called/emailed several times). Army 4 year HPSP was offered and was a sure thing so I jumped on it. With the Navy, the earliest you will know is October 1st, it's not guaranteed, and you will probably get a 3.5 year. Army was too good to pass up.
Good luck with the Navy though!
