Exactly how much of the equipment is covered by the military?

dentoform/typodont?

Hand piece?

Articulator?

Scrub?

Loupes?

Great question. I was under the impression they covered everything required, and just assumed all of the above was covered, but of course as reimbursed expenses.

Would love to get a definitive answer to this one.

From other post title "Pocket Recruiter Guide" it says on page 44:

"certain items of professional equipment and certain other academic fees"

so I am guessing this doesn't mean everything.

Can anyone with specifics chime in?

If you're asking about the Navy HPSP, I would direct you to NAVMEDMPT&EINST 1520.1D, which is the student programs handbook. If you are going to be a Navy HPSP student, it would be a very good idea to become very familiar with it. It should answer your question, and I would imagine that the other branches have a similar document. For what it's worth, I haven't had to pay anything out of pocket for dental school, with the exception of parking passes.

They will pay for everything that the school requires for all students.

ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE. For instance HPSP will not reimburse for a laptop even if it's required

Each of the Service's has a Student Management Handbook (or something of that nature) that will outline what is reimburseable and what is not. For the Army it is called the Student Policy Handbook, chapter 7, and it's found under the General Info Tab at www.mods.army.mil/medicaleducation. All three Services meet annually, and determine what gets paid for and for how much they are willing to pay..

As a general rule, if the school bills all students for a particular fee, item, tuition, etc. then they'll pay you back.

Other things like books, you pay first and send in a reimbursement request to the military.

Each branch is slightly different but with the Air Force, they contacted the school's bursar for me and I never see a bill. I get paid back for books usually within 3 weeks. I've never had any problems getting my money.

Some items you listed like hand pieces, articulator and typodont, that's all stuff the school just gives us and then bills us for whether we like it or not.

As for loupes, I just needed a letter from my school saying they're required and I got up to $1400 covered.

As previous posters have stated, there are handbooks that have explicit information on what is and is not reimbursed. Are you already accepted as HPSP/in school? In surprised you haven't seen it.

The navy handbook is a little over 100 pages, and I am applying next cycle for HPSP, but I've read through the applicable sections, and I suggest you do the same - it's very informative on the program.
