Hi guys,
I have searched but have not found this topic. I am strongly considering HPSP, meet the physical height/weight requirements, but the only issue is that I have a pre-existing health condition (plantar fasciitis) from running too much. It is basically where it hurts to stand for multiple hours at a time. I've had it for close to two years now, and it's gotten better, but there's a chance it's going to be permanent.
Will I still be eligible for HPSP?

Just CTRL F and find plantar fasciitis. The wording is "Current or history of recurrent plantar fasciitis" is disqualifying (but does not discuss "waiverability").
J-Rad (or anyone else), do you know how to find out about waiverability? I can't seem to find much on the waiver process or what is or isn't waiverable.
So from my limited experience going through MEPS and talking with my recruiter, basically disqualifying means you need to get it signed off by a physician. I would contact a recruiter and talk to them. But yeah, you realize you'll be marching and running through training, right?
just had my hpsp physical today on base and b/c i take allergy shots it was marked as a disqualifying condition. I sure hope that I can get a waiver for this. any thoughts ? basically just seasonal allergies.
would be stupid to not get a waiver for something so basic.
I posted this in the FAQ thread a few days ago but got no response and this thread seems more directly related:
Is asthma a waiverable condition for HPSP?
My story:
I have never been clinically diagnosed with asthma, however I was medically disqualified at MEPS in 2004. The head physician at the time stated that one item in my medical history somehow "proved" that I had severe asthma and all of my subsequent waiver applications were denied.
In my favor:
1) I have taken a metacholine challenge test which was negative.
2) I have never used an inhaler
3) I meet all of the criteria in 11.d.(2)(a)-(d) from
http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/c...df/613003p.pdf
4) I have worked as a Forest Service firefighter for the intervening seven years, exposed to every natural asthma trigger I can think of
5) A rough translation of my forest service PFT scores to the army PFT would give me a 300+ score.
Thoughts?
