Current med student considering if I should accept a 3 year army scholarship. I’ve always known I only wanted to do FM but recent experiences in clinic made me realize that I’m not so fond of it either.
I’m more interested in administration and being an officer than being a doctor. If I accept the scholarship and just do an intern year or an FM residency, what kind of career advancement opportunities are there for me in command? I don’t mind a bit of clinical duties but want to explore other options in the army through my career.
I’m kind of the exact opposite compared to those who are disgruntled in military medicine because of skills atrophy or not being able to practice medicine to the fullest potential.
