I will have my two officer interviews in the next couple days and wondered if anyone could share their experience with me from theirs. I am sure it's a little different for everyone but any input would be appreciated.

The interviews really aren't that bad, just make sure you're prepared to explain:

1. Why you want to be a dentist
2. Why you want to join the military, or even that specific branch

Keep your confidence up, and act professionally. They are trying to gauge your demeanor, so be sure to be respectful!

Good luck.

Interview?? I was told by my recruiter there were no interview. I was accepted to receive the scholarship. Is this something I have to do now that I have been accepted?

I had a 19 DAT with 3.5 GPA. I had to interview because my DAT was below 20. I think if you have a GPA below 3.5 and/ or DAT below 20 you have to interview. But like the above poster said, it's really chill. I was with two young female officers, one was a dentist, the other a regular officer. Told them why I wanted to be a dentist and why the Navy, which took about 10 minutes then we just talked for about 30 minutes. More of a formality, but they do write up a report, so turn on the charm.

Ok that makes sense. Thanks for the quick response!

It may depend on the branch, I'm going for the Navy. I have a 3.81 gpa and a 20 on the DAT. When I talked with the Army recruiter they said they still had the matrix qualification as mentioned above.

Navy is making you interview with those stats? They told me I had to interview b/c my DAT was below 20.

I guess I am just lucky lol. Maybe it has to do with being so late in the game. I know they are just about out of scholarships so they may just want to be more picky at this point. My recruiter was shooting for the May selection boards and the Navy said to have everything in by April 1st because they were close to filling their quota.

I'm pretty confident that there is automatic acceptance criteria in both the Navy and Army (I didn't look at AF). However, my recruiter still had me do a phone interview to bolster my app. Not sure why it's considered automatic if a lot of recruiters are doing the same, but I really enjoyed my interview and I got a LOT of questions answered (my interview lasted ~90 mins). They aren't there to sell you like you might see with your recruiter.

Navy has gotten rid of matrix qualifications starting this year because of the competitiveness. I believe that everyone has to interview for it now...

So I had both interviews today, both officers were really cool and good to talk with. They just wanted to make sure I was informed about life in the Navy as far as deployments and such and they asked the general questions you would expect, why dentistry, why Navy etc...
