Does anyone have insight into when the security clearance is performed for HPSP students? I'm wondering if it is done prior to being awarded the contract or after graduating medical school.

TIA

Yeah, hold off on smoking a bowl until you hear about the security clearance.

Not worried about anything like that. Have some bad debt from years ago that is not salvageable at this point, but would be taken care of by the end of med school.

It is definitely completed while in HPSP. For the Army, you will not be allowed a second ADT unless you have a clearance. The reasoning is that it can take a little over a year for a clearance to be adjudicated by OPM. If after 12-18 months you do not have a clearance, the fault in 99.9% of these cases it is the fault of the individual (ignoring the letter of instruction sent by the Security Office/OPM).

You're welcome to PM me, I do have some insight from others in this situation that I'd rather not put out for public consumption.
