Do you guys get local tax taken out of your HPSP pay?
My w-2 from the military does not show any local tax.
Also, do I have to file a local tax if I didn't get any local tax taken out?
thank you.

The easy answer is that your state of residence where you pay taxes (not necessarily where you go to school) does no take out state taxes for military income. Hawaii and Texas are examples. I switched permanent residency to Texas and found this out.

Consult an accountant for the ultimate word for you specific situation.

Not all states are like that.
