A short background...

~7.5 years in Army Reserves PMOS 38B / SMOS 68W
1 deployment
E-5 (P)

I recently graduated from college. Have taken the DAT. Currently going through the interview process.

The Issue...

I have been arrested before. The Army knows about everything and I currently hold a Secret Clearance. I have no convictions and no felony charges.

When I look on Goarmy.com etc. I read that if you have ever been arrested you are not eligible to be commissioned. I realize the Army makes and waives their own rules. I was just wondering if anyone can proved any insight... are moral waivers currently being accepted for medical officers? Of course I know to be up front about everything, it's all already in my initial contract with the Army. I've had a hard time reaching AMEDD Recruiters in my area... they seem to never actually be in the office... maybe I will have more luck with an acceptance letter in my hand.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the response Sir. I figured it is just matter of the state of Army and what they need. I know things like this vary with the times. Hopefully I will receive an acceptance letter be able to make my way forward with my commission.

You’re welcome to ask for a waiver. Each one of these is looked at on a case-by-case basis. An example is smoking weed. Getting caught with a fatty at 14 years old is looked at differently than getting arrested for being baked 300 feet from the local grade school with a 1/4 pound in your book bag at 28 years old.

While I’m not a recruiter, I will say that in the recent past a DUI has been an automatic disqualifier – ESPECIALLY for anyone with prior service. We have all been told don’t drink and drive and if you do drink call a buddy or taxi.
