Hello! I know there are threads about this subject on here and a plethora of articles have their own opinions, but what is the deal with transferring from a Community College to a 4 year university to Med School. I will be a HS junior next year and my town offers a program in which you can earn your Associates Degree during your last two years of HS, thus making you eligible to enter a 4 year uni as a Junior upon graduation. This is because along with standard classes at the CC, some HS teachers have their MS or MA and are accredited college teachers, earning their license to teach college classes but the CC. There is flexibility in class offerings as well, so I would have the opportunity to finish my General Chem + Bio pre-reqs, as well as my year of English and year of Calculus at the Community College. They do not offer ochem or biochem, and I would be able to complete (possibly) my year of Physics as well. So do adcoms look unfavorably on CC classes, do most med schools even take them... How will taking CC classes affect my chances?

P.S. I will have over 200 hours of clinical job shadowing, 300 hours non-clinical experience, and have been the president of the CC's Doctors without Borders club for 2 years

Merci, mes amis.

Yes, several of them.

Basically, every school has its own rules about what types of credits it will and won't accept. Generally speaking, having CC credits won't hurt you if you also take science classes at a 4-year institution.

Ok. The insight is much appreciated!

I’m not sure I’d take all of those science prereqs at a CC. Take the general Ed requirements so when you get to a university you can focus on science etc. . Some med schools are okay with one prerequisite course but to take them all would be a mistake I think. Before you follow this path, search specific med school, sites and see what they specifically say about taking prereqs at a CC.
Are you in HS or CC now?

I'm currently in HS. Basically, the program starts your Junior Year (Next year, for me) and runs until the end of your senior year. I would graduate with my General Education requirements done regardless, so I would be free to pursue whatever major I choose in college anyways. One benefit I see in taking these classes are the small class sizes (capped at 24 at my CC). I would save taking General Physics II, Biochemistry, and Ochem for uni.
