HSCP Navy

Can one switch from HPSP to HSCP if they are already in their second year of med school?

The simple answer is no.

Going the other way would be easier. The problem is that you have to resign your commission and you are not eligible to do so (you have an 8 year IRR comittment). This could play havoc with obligations and would require actions at the highest levels of PERS. Add to that, the programs are run from completely different commands, HPSP (NM MPT&E) and HSCP (Recruit Command).

A better question is why do you want to change? Your header would suggest you are at AT Sill which is not an inexpensive school. After about $18K of tuition, fees and books, the benefit towards HPSP is considerably greater.

Do students under HSCP get Moving/Dislocation allowance? maybe MALT for moving to the new assignment location (The Medical school)...?

Also, to go out of the country one must accumulate enough leave time to go off and ask leave as well I am assuming?

HSCP are active duty and all appropriate regs apply. Leave is coordinated with the local recruiting district which has administrative oversight. Yes, they should get DLA, but I don't know if it is at the E6/7 level or O1 level.

Does anyone know when the results of the last HSCP board will be released? My recruiter told me the results should be released within a week but it has already been two and now I'm having a hard time getting my recruiter to call me back.

Board is today! They haven't had a board since Sept 30, according to the Officer Programs Processor.

Thanks 000777 and if you're waiting on the same board-good luck.

Are the HCSP and HPSP the same board? My packet (for HPSP) has been complete since the beginning of Sept and I have not heard anything yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

Professional Review Board? Yes they are the same and they use the same criteria.

I got the scholarship today. For those who were waiting to hear back.

Congrats on the scholarship. Do you happen to know when the board that reviewed your packet met? Also, when was your packet completed and sent?

Hmmm... I believe they met last Wednesday - Nov. 4, 2009.
I believe my recruiter turned in everything mid-Septemberish...
This is Navy HSCP just in case.

I'm a prior service Coast Guard guy applying to HSCP; I attend Michigan State (allo school) in the fall.

I likewise would like to know (for sure) that I got the HSCP scholarship: I've been leaving messages and no one has called me back. (I started the application process in March, but had to lose some weight first.)

Hopefully, I'll hear good news from somebody next week. (My recruiter told me it's a "slam dunk;" but he's a recruiter!)

Anyway, congrats and good luck to HSCP and HPSP recipients alike.

Zombie thread, but hopefully someone can answer a few questions I have.
I am a prior applying for the HSCP program for the MSC (Health Administrator). I understand that you have to be accepted to a school before you can complete your HSCP package. Because my undergrad will not be conferred until this November 15th, I will miss the fall 2012 start. However, I will be applying to several schools as soon as the fall 2013 admissions open. The problem is that it could take until February or March to find out if I am accepted to a school. So my question is, will there still be any openings available for HSCP that late in the game? Or would I have to accept a school's offer and then apply for the HSCP once the 2013 fiscal year starts (which would be right around the time school starts)?
The dillemma then would be that I will not be able to attend a full-time program if I am not accepted to the HSCP because of family obligations. So, I kind of need to know one way or another before I have to start registering for classes.

My second, and much shorter, question is has anyone been accepted into the program, or even just the MSC without the HSCP, with an MBA? The instruction states that an MBA must have a healthcare emphasis and be AACSB accredited. Some schools' diploma actually states that you received a Healthcare MBA where others' diploma only states MBA but they give you a letter showing that you took the healthcare concentration. Does it matter to the Navy which?

Thanks for any help.
