Nothing better. Snow day here, drifts are everywhere. If they call school tomorrow it will be over for the rest of the week. (We have a 3 day weekend here). I have been doing a Ted Mosby-esque snow dance all afternoon. Unfourtunately the meds I got have cleared up my sinus infection and I need it to snow. Otherwise I have to attend. I may or may not have written a 3-page research paper that is due tomorrow.
 
Have ice on the roads and sidewalks, but our superintendent decided to have a full day.

I feel ya, AHMD. We got a new superintendent this year from Cleveland. In January we had snowstorm drop about 4 inches and some ice (that was our most significant snow this year lol), and we weren't even delayed. And keep in mind, my school is out in a rural area where very few snow plows roam. My parents declared a parental-imposed snow day and kept me home. 😛
 
Ah, a gung-ho super AntiHouse? That sux, although I love the gif. Since I live about 20 miles from my school, usually I get a 'parental exemption' like Ceph. I had an interesting time in PE today. They grouped the freshmen and seniors together for weightlifting, (why they would i'll never know), and a freshman dropped a large weight on the starting point guards toe. I fear for his life, we are switching to flag football in a week.
 
Oh boy. Sounds like somebody's about to go from freshman to freshmeat. :meanie: Haha, poor kid, I feel like putting seniors and freshmen together in just about anything =/= a good plan.

I accidentally gave this little freshman dude at school a heart attack a few weeks ago. I was walking out of my first period class, turned to walk down the hallway, and came very close to colliding with him. He jumped about a foot in the air and darted out of the way so fast you'd think I was a rattlesnake. :laugh: I felt so bad, but it was kinda funny too.
 
That is funny! I don't remember being that jumpy as a freshmen but quite a few are here. The aforementioned kid just moved here and reminds me a lot of Neville Longbottom. (Harry Potter Nerd Alert). He apparantly shattered a glass beaker in Biology Lab as well.

I run into underclassmen all the time. They get so scared :meanie:. Im not trying to be mean, usually I just can't see them. Being 6'3 has some disadvantages.

This Midwesterner survived, I'm happy to report. We got some heavy storms, but we live significantly north of where all the tornado action was going down (for which I am very thankful!). It's so terrible that some were hit by tornadoes twice within 48 hours too, wow.
 
This might be a weird question, but do you ever become really aware of the seconds passing as the future becomes the present and then the past in an instant?

😱 that is deep. I never really thought about that before. I just pondered it for a moment and my mind was blown. It made me feel... philoslothical. 😀
 
Yeah I was thinking about how people forget insignificant things almost instantly. This progressed into analyzing each moment in time to try and capture it all, which failed miserably since time is always passing. Sometimes I think of weird stuff like that for no real reason.
 
Also, you forgot most of what I just typed up there, and couldn't recite the entire thing without looking at the post again.
 
Also, If we don't get to 1000 posts in here by May 13th (My graduation day) I will be mad.

An excellent goal. 👍 Also, I am enormously jealous of how early you graduate. I graduate on the 29th, and I thought that was early!
 
I'm so lazy... Woke up at 10, it's now 11 and I'm just getting out of bed. Campus visit March 10, 14 hour drive March 9th, 😀
 
Hi everyone! I'm not really new to SDN, but I've never posted. I'm from Massachusetts, and probably going OOS for college next year (except if I get into Boston College). Definitely going to be utilizing this forum a lot in the coming years!

Parents, but most people go with em, so it's no big deal, plus they split up parents and students at some point.

There have been a lot of new people, makes sense though, me and AH joined spring of last year.

When is everybody's spring break? My spring break for college classes is the week after next week, and my high school spring break is I believe the first week in April.

Both of mine are on the same week as your college's. I think our high school gets out so early because we go at the same pace as my college.
 
Mine is the first week of April as well, I'm looking forward to it, but I don't know if I can bear returning to classes afterwards. I learned a new word today: 'Ennui' and I feel I am currently ennui personified.

Thanks for not explaining what ennui is and therefore depriving us of a learning opportunity...jerk. My spring break is going to be dedicated to an 18 page research paper.
 
Just googled ennui. An excellent word, and one I can most certainly relate to. And because I am in a mischievous mood, I will also refrain from revealing its meaning because I am wild and crazy like that. :O 😀

Dammit... I refuse to look up the word until the meaning is posted here. Until then ennui means "selfish jerk" to me...
 
The definition of Ennui is one of the following choices:

A) Jerk
B) Selfish Jerk
C) A feeling of utter weariness and discontentment
D) The act of playing a Nintendo Wii

I only do this because I am studying for a BritLit exam, and I am in test mode.
