I am enrolled in a Human Neuropsychology course at UCI. It is taught under the BIO SCI department and the name of the course is BIO SCI N173. On my transcripts, it is listed as "human neuropsychology." Since the name has the word "psychology" in it, will AMCAS not count it in my BCPM? even though at my school its under the bio department?

AMCAS classifies things by the primary course content, not by what department it is listed under.

I think it goes by the departmental BIO SCI so it should be BCPM.

Is there a way they would look into the course to see what the content is mostly about? This class in particular is heavy on the anatomy of the brain but I can't imagine how they would specifically know that when considering my application. I am considering dropping it if there is a risk of it not counting, as I am graduating this year and need all the science courses I can get to boost my sGPA before I apply

They look at the course description online, I believe. You can classify it as a BCPM if you believe it meets the criteria, and AMCAS could let it slide or could change it. As long as you have less than 10 mischaracterized courses, you’ll be fine. If AMCAS does change it, you have an opportunity to appeal where you can submit a syllabus or other supporting material showing the class is >50% science.
