Are there opportunities to go on dental humanitarian missions in the Army (excluding Afghanistan)? How can you get involved and does it matter where you are stationed? Can someone in the Army volunteer for something like the Pacific Partnership? From searching on the internet, it seems that the Navy and Air Force have more dental humanitarian missions around the world (esp in the Pacific), while the only one I found for the Army is in South America. Can someone provide more details?

No experiences?

Hello,

Unless something big comes up...ie Katrina...your chances are slim...you are needed more in the Army than in the Pacific or the like...

Ok so the Navy and the Air Force go on these missions, while the Army fights the war.

Some humanitarian opportunities come up from time to time and volunteers are asked for. I have had friends stationed in Hawaii who had many opportunities to go and do missions in the Pacific Rim.

Traditionally it tends to be more on the Reserve side that I see these opportunities. My guess is that with budget constraints, the few humanitarian missions that were coming up will become even less frequent.
