Some schools have a humanities / social / behavioral sciences requirement (in addition to 2 sems of English). These courses do not have any lab component. Is it acceptable to take these courses at online through a reputed 4-Year university or a community college?

I have a foreign bachelors in Chem and masters in OChem am doing 60+ sems credits of all science pre-reqs + several upper div sciences + 2 English classes in an in-class setting from 4-Year universities. But being able to take a couple of these non-science classes on-line or at a CC will be much more convenient as I work full-time.

Want to get your inputs on this.

Examples of these schools are:
Johns Hopkins University
University of Southern California
Boston University
University of Illinois
Michigan State University
Cornell University
Oregon Health Sciences University
Pennsylvania State University
University of Pennsylvania
Brown University
University of Washington
Marshall University
West Virginia University

Bump !
Need some of the more experienced ones to weigh on this.
Do we need to take these humanities pre-reqs in class in a 4 year school ?
Will taking at a CC or on-line through a 4 Year school be looked down upon ?

You need to contact these schools, MOST schools frown upon prereqs taken either online or at a CC. You really should contact your top 5 schools and find out from them... A prereq is a prereq when it comes to some of this stuff, just because its not science doesn't mean they don't care

Have you contacted most schools to confirm pre-reqs at community college are frowned upon?

I think it's also worthy to point out that we're talking about Humanities, a lower level class at any college, not organic chemestry..

To the OP, you should be fine taking that at a cc, but I would call the med schools you're applying to and make sure it's ok with them..

Thank you all for responding to my question. Yes, I just emailed some of these schools. But I would like to hear back from others that have contacted and heard back from these schools in the past.

One good thing that is coming out of the email responses so far is that I am getting better clarity on the number of US credits needed for an applicant like me (US citizen with foreign UG and Masters).

Still waiting to hear back on the humanities piece.
