I took 2 full year business courses and a semester of healthcare law, I'm wondering if they would satisfy the humanities requirements at Boston U, Emory, or Johns Hopkins. I noticed that Hopkins doesn't have an English requirement so does anyone know if English will count for some of their Humanities requirements? Thanks!

Boston:
  1. Can I use _________ course for your Humanities requirement?
Humanities covers a broad spectrum of courses for Boston University School of Medicine. Acceptable courses to fulfill our Humanities requirement include, but are not limited to: History, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Art, Religious Studies and Foreign Language.
Emory:
Lastly, you will need to complete at least 18 hours of coursework in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Examples of courses that meet this requirement include:

  • Anthropology
  • Art/Art Appreciation/Art History
  • Black Studies/African American Studies
  • Classical Studies
  • Economics
  • Foreign Languages
  • History
  • Journalism
  • Literature
  • Music/Music Appreciation
  • Philosophy
  • Political Science
  • Psychology
  • Religion
  • Sociology
  • Theater/Film Studies
  • Women’s Studies
Hopkins:
C. HUMANITIES, SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES
The study of the humanities and social and behavioral sciences is an essential foundation for the study and practice of medicine. A total of 24 semester hours is required. AP credit acceptable to the student's undergraduate college is allowed for a maximum of twelve (12) credits. Please see Communication Skills under Additional Requirements below.
2. Communication skills. Required course work will include at least two writing-intensive courses, which can be in the humanities or the social/behavioral sciences and may be counted as part of the 24-semester hour requirement for the humanities and social sciences. It is expected that the student will have demonstrated precise and fluent communication in spoken and written English. It is strongly recommended that the student achieve basic conversational skills in a foreign language.

Business is its own thing, so no.

Law is a social science, but it looks like they'll accept some social sciences (sociology, psychology) as humanities.

English is a humanities subject.

So essentially if I have English, I would need "only" 12 more credit hours of humanities?
