How does Hurricane Sandy affect the processing of applications? I sent my application in about 4 weeks ago maybe a little longer and I cant call and ask about it because the offices are closed. Do you think that this will prolong processing?

The AACOMAS website says their offices are closed today.

It took my application 6 weeks to process. Just giving you a heads-up because I was hoping for 4 weeks too and it took much longer (I contacted them after 4 weeks, and they told me up to 6 weeks).

If this is not sarcasm or a troll... you're a ****ing idiot. There are things way more important than your little application. Also, common sense could easily answer this question.

This is actually a great question and perfect for SDN.

I am actually in a similar situation as I am waiting on the results of the hurricane to determine if I should go MD or DO.

What does the results of the hurricane have to do with that decision? Just curious..

My bad. I have friends in that area, and it just irked me to wake up and see someone wondering if the storm affected their application process time vs wondering if people at the adcom are safe. Meh, humanity.

ya and i have FAMILY on the Jersey shore which is the hardest hit area. Before jumping to conclusions you should find out the whole scenario. The whole wast coast was not hit the the severity. The offices are closed I didnt know if processing still occurs or not? mehh humanity

Well then I'm sorry for your family and wish them the best.

Let's clarify some things first then:

You're asking about a school on the west coast?
The school offices are closed, or just the admission office?
Which school is this?
How did you know the offices are closed without calling?
If you live close enough, have you just tried walking into the school and asking them?

I don't see why any school on the west coast would stop working because of a superstorm on the east coast.

it is the accomas application offfices i called in Bethesda, Md yesterday. Also, on the accom website it said offices were closed. It was not a particular school. This is for the primary application. Everything has been in for a while and im just waiting for it to be varified. I didnt know if it was a computer based system that verified it or not. Again, I am just asking because I do not know how it is verified.

So you're talking about the AACOMAS application? Verification is done by humans I believe. If the offices are closed, they won't be touching your application. Someone has to review it, then calculate the grade using AACOMAS grade-replacement policy. Pretty sure it's a human that has to do it. Then again, I could be wrong.

ok, ya that is all I was wondering. I mean obviously I understand that it will take longer due to everything I just wanted an estimation on how much longer/ what I could expect from the delay.
