Anyone concerned that it might affect interview plans? I have an interview in New Orleans on Wednesday where it was supposed to be nice weather up until I checked this evening and now it's going to be windy and rainy (thought not quite hurricane conditions), but the school website is still keeping an eye on it. It'd suck to fly out there and not even get to interview.

Is your interview at Tulane? Check this website www.tulane.edu to keep tabs on what the school and medical school is doing in regards to shutting down. Most of all the public schools are closed now and the mayor of New Orleans is suggesting people get ready to get out of town. Even though we (Tulane Med Students) have exams next week I am gonna get out if it is headed our way. I'm sure the admissions office will call you about it if you are interviewing at Tulane 😀 😀 Good luck by the way!! It is a great school and an equally great city.

Yeah, it's at Tulane and I have been going to that site. My flight leaves tomorrow morning, so I'd like to know whether I should get on it or not. I'll probably try callling then. Good luck with exams and the hurricane.

yeah i'm a tulane undergrad. It sucks how we have to wait until 9 tonight to get a decision on whether classes are canceled or not, while every other school in new orleans has already closed.

Plus, many of my friends have already booked plane tickets for tomorrow.

They just posted that classes are cancelled from now until Friday. So it is probably a safe bet to say your interview is off. Just give the admissions office a call and they will be glad to help you out.

I just read that. My airline will let people change tickets because of the storm, but not to LA, just Florida. How much does that suck.

I'm debating on whether I should cancel my flight. Is anyone positive that interviews are cancelled as well?

Classes are cancelled, kinda funny but people are leaving...even funnier is if you show up right before the hurricane does

I will get to see the wreckage next week!

Pretty positive interviews will be canceled. They seem to be shutting pretty much everything down for the school. Doubt there will be too much wreckage...i still don't think it will be that bad here. But what do I know, maybe we'll be underwater by the time you get here. What really sucks is we were supposed to have our exams on friday, and I was flying out afterward to see my boyfriend. Had to cancel my trip. 🙁 alas...off to feeling sorry for myself some more.

I canceled everything. I'm so disappointed now. I was looking forward to being one of the first groups interviewed and now who knows when I'll get to go. I hope they come up with some special day to interview us. Some good news- I explained my situation to the airline and I won't be penalized for canceling. Sorry to randomlogik, best of luck getting to see your boyfriend.

I was able to reschedule my trip for the next weekend. (Northwest can be hard to deal with though) As for people with interviews, next week everything should be open unless the hurricane changes paths. Just keep an eye on the news. I'm sure you'll hear if New Orleans goes under.

Do you guys think I will be ok next wednesday?

I think anything next week will be fine. They have us scheduled to go back to school on Monday unless any of the conditions change. Just keep an eye on the weather. You'll have an idea of how bad New Olreans is going to get hit in the next two days.

I never cared about, or watched the weather channel more than this haha

Sorry your interviews are getting all screwed up! I was about to book my flight to New Orleans this morning, but then after looking at the weather decided to wait and see if there was still a Tulane med school by next week. Are all you Tulane students safe? The weather channel is making it sound like New Orleans is going to be a death trap! :scared:

They closed the school down tuesday, so hopefully everyone had plenty of time to get out. I lucked out and left town at 7am Tuesday and missed the traffic jam. Personally, I think most of the news is just a bunch of hype and doubt the city is going to end up 20 ft under water. I guess you have to prepare for the worst case senario just in case.
