Any news?

I was on vacation and in the storm but wasn't affected because I wasn't in New Orleans.

From what I've seen in newspapers,
1. Memorial Hospital, a private hospital, is under 7 feet of water.
2. Ochsner Clinic, which has some ophthalmology residents rotating there, is dry, has power, but is transferring some patients to Memorial Hermann in Houston.
3. Tulane has transferred all patients.
4. Charity is in sad shape but not under water.
5. One newspaper said that both of LSU's hospitals have run out of fuel to operate the electric generators. It said that the hospital is housing 2,000 employees and families who fled to the hospital for shelter.

Last year, one LSU neurosurgery resident evacuated and said it was the first time in living memory that residents have evacuated. I wonder if the residents evacuated this time.

The Tulane website is down.

Try this one too:

http://emergency.tulane.edu/

(It might be down due to power outages at the university. If so, use the collegesports.com URL in my previous post.)

It must be hurting cataract surgery numbers for the 3rd years. Even if all the Tulane residents go to Alexandria or wherever they go, they would have to split up the patient load.

Anyone know what is happening to LSU or Tulane's ophthalmology residents? Before the hospitals were evacuated, where some of them there doing non-surgical stuff, like corneal abrasions?
