How are you fairing in the hurricane prone area?? Any scares with the two big ones that just went through your area??

LOL...no one really cares about hurricanes when it comes to getting an MD, at least if they are serious...

From a student's perspective a hurricane is a welcomed disturbance. Classes are sometimes cancelled, which gives you more time to study. But of course a student’s perspective is nothing more than an abstraction of reality, where the looming danger of a difficult exam is subconsciously perceived as a greater threat than the kinetic energy of a projectile facilitated by 190 mph wind, or a home being wiped off the face of the earth.

Therefore, in the context of real world perspective, medical school is cake walk when you consider the extent of human tragedy that can be related to a natural disaster such as a hurricane. But luckily hurricanes Dean and Felix left a minimal trail of damage, and in particular, our fellow students in the Caribbean are safe.

I'd feel safer from a hurricane in Grenada or Dominica than I would in NOLA, given the events of the past couple of years.
