Ok, so this stuff is driving me insane.

Thalamus controls sex drive? right?
Does Hypothalamus control sex drive as well?

What does the pons do?
where is it located?
Is pons the same thing as Medulla?

Someone clarify this stuff for me

thanks

The pons is located in the hindbrain along with the medulla and cerebellum. The pons is separate from the medulla. In the Kaplan blue book it says one of the functions of the pons is to act as a relay center to allow the cortex to communicate with the cerebellum.

The medulla controls stuff like blood CO2 levels and pH, breathing, temperature, and heart rate.

The medulla + pons + midbrain= brainstem

The thalamus acts as a relay and integration center for the spinal cord and cerebral cortex.

The hypothalamus controls stuff like thirst, hunger, sleep, blood pressure, water balance, and sex drive.

Hope that helps :) Good luck studying!

I thought the medulla, pons, and midbrain consisted of the brainstem. The cerebellum is not part of midbrain.. atleast according to Kaplan Blue book

also isn't temperature regulation controlled by the hypothalamus. I think this is what kaplan blue book says.
