Hi Friends,

IF somebody is in the middle of semester in His/her current school and got accepted in other school, Can he/she get I-20 tranfer to the new school in the middle of semester. If yes, then what are the formalities and if no, then is there any way he/she can join the new school.

I appreciate the response.
thanks

You have to fill out some paper work for the new school. Which is the old school, who is the contact person, that kind of a thing.

Then you fill out an intent to transfer at your old school- when you want the transfer to be effective, where you will be transferring to etc.The schools will do the rest.

I am not sure if you can fully and effectively transfer in the middle of a semester especially if this is your 1st semester in the US. I think you can fill out the intent to transfer and do related paper work though.

Also, there is a deadline for course registration and adding or dropping courses. Once that deadline has passed, you cannot transfer to the new school, if you do, you will either get an I or F in the course (depending on your Prof) or will be technically out of F1-status (happens only when you register for < 9 credits for Grad and < 12 CRE for undergrad). Since you have been issued an I-20 from the new school, you can transfer your credits for the next semester and join the new school at that point. I hope the above info helps but there is a lot more to this if you really want to know.
Good luck.

Hi, if i were you, i will go and talk to the international students office to find out the details.
