So i recieved my step 2 CK score today and its not what I wanted. In fact it is worse than step 1. I have no idea what went wrong. According to uworld i should have got a 219 but instead I ended up with this

CK 200/76
Step 1 210/88

Will I be able to get into family med programs???? I would highly appreciate any input. Thanks!

Are you IMG or AMG? Either way I suspect you will match somewhere in FM as it is one of the least competitive fields, and programs are actively recruiting applicants but if you are IMG you may have to apply more broadly.

You passed and there's not a huge discrepancy. My thoughts are that you will match family medicine.
Thanks. I really appreciate the help. Its a big reassurance to hear that. I prefer programs within the Northeast, but at this point i can't be choosy. Have you heard of people matching with similar scores in the northeast? Although, I have no problem with going elsewhere in the country.

Thank you! I am an IMG, going for 2013 match. What is your opinion on rural fam medicine program?? Do they have problem with such scores?

(1) You are IMG
(2) Your board scores suck

My recommendation to you is to apply to programs that other people do not want. That means looking at last year's scramble, last year's match. Apply to programs in the middle of bumb-**** nowhere Nebraska that DIDNT FILL. FOr you to get a spot, you have to apply to places that didn't have people.

Yeah, also apply to your choice programs in the Northeast. But make sure you apply everywhere that people don't want to go. If you've heard of it, its probably no good. If it's places you've never heard of before, probably a good choice. If its in a city you've heard of, probably not a good shot. If its in a city you haven't heard of, probably a good deal.

Does this suck to hear? Yep. Did you want reassurance? Too bad. Your state is the way it is. You cannot change anything. You can only go forward. Get a crap residency somewhere, and then, in four years, you are a practicing MD in the US. Who cares how you get there?
