Spending a bit too, no where near that amount thankfully. But man, I must be prematurely jaded because I'm kind of in this apathetic mood about the whole thing, I'll just work another year and re-coup all the expenses and travel instead. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, right?

I had to tell my boss, and I was lucky that he is understanding. There was no way I could hid my plans because I had class during the day.

I'm thinking about applying to 22 schools... I might trim it down

At least you have an idea of what you'll be spending to apply, I really had no idea. I really only knew about the cost of the DAT and AADSAS application. I didn't really factor in the additional costs like secondary applications, travel to interviews (I knew I'd have to travel, but I wasn't planning on multiple interviews), hotel rooms, taxi's, new suit, time off of work, travel food, etc. And then once you're accepted you have to worry about coming up with a deposit, relocation costs (moving truck, gas money, new deposit on apartment), immunizations, CPR class, etc. It all adds up fast!! Obviously it's worth the financial expense, but maybe you should stick with Ramen noodles this next year. 🙂

You and everybody else. You have to be all in to give yourself the best chance. But yeah it adds up fast. Good luck.

If that's a lot of money to you then forget about specializing. Now that process sucks! I thought it was way worse than D-School applying. Way more $$, more stress and the Match system is a trip. You don't get to really decide. They match you up and you gotta pack your bags and go!
