I'm in pharm school (i post here because people in my class lurk on the pharm forums), and I am pledging a pharmacy fraternity. I made the dean's list last semester (top 10% of class). Now I'm in my second semester and I don't have that focus that I had. I need structure, and its amazing how a tweak in my daily activities (fraternity related stuff) causes me to worry, and my mind wonders, and often times focuses on other things I have to do instead of focusing on the task at hand.

I never got less than 7 hours of sleep last semester, and I never studied past 10 pm. SO, THIS is professional school, staying up till 3 am. Hopefully things will quell down once this pledging process is over.

What a weird post.

Hmm this is professional school so you have to stay up till 3 am?. I go to bed at 11 PM and wake up at 5 am (on the weekdays) Get up early and stop partying during the week days, so you can get some good studying in during the morning, after noon and evening. Use the late evening to relax. Can still go out and do whatever you want on the weekends as long as you don't wake up so hungover you can't study some in the weekend afternoons.

I just posted something similar in a different post. I dont understand why everyone assumes that in professional school you have to study all night. That's what leads to people (at least in medical school) hating themselves when they have to show up at rounds at 6 am and work till the evening like a normal human.

As for the whole pledging thing, good luck with that haha. Never was my thing

Srsly,tho?

Just don't do it. Then you'll be top 10% again and will be less stressed and not inexplicably staying up until 3AM. Either that, or you do the EC and accept that you may not be at the top anymore because you shifted your priorities and how you manage your time. No matter what you do, stop staying up until 3AM. There's no reason for it. Problem solved. Don't forget to pay your deductible/co-pay on the way out.

But joining a fraternity provides you with life long friends, study groups and social gatherings? (Sarcasm implied)
