Eventhough I'm only in high school right now, but I'm really intersted in becoming a dentist..
I know my questions may seem really obvious to u guys..but..please give me more information about the DAT if u guys can.

I want to know, the DAT, are all the chem, bio, organic chem questions based on university level knowledge? So I don't have to remember everything I learned in high school?

If you didn't do ur first DAT that good, how long do u have to wait before u can get another one going?

about the soap carving and PA portion, do u basically have to learn it ur self or is there some sort of course in university u can apply and learn?

If anyone know anything specific to the UofA's phamarcy program, on the web they say they look at ur Reading Comprehension, Perceptual Ability and Manual Dexterity mark. does that suppose to mean all the rest they don't care?

Please provide me with some information with my questions if anyone can..
Thanks!🙂

You mentioned about soap carving so i guess you are from Canada?
go to the Canadian DAT website and read more about the content.
US DAT: math, bio, general chem, organic chem, reading, PAT
Can DAT: bio, general chem, reading, carving, PAT. Can DAT is offered twice a year (Feb and Nov)
each school looks at specific sections on DAT.
soap carving: buy soaps and a book , practice on your own
PAT: read the discussions on this forum

for you right now, focus on doing well in 1st and 2nd year to get good GPA and good foundation (1st yr Bio, Chem and 2nd year orgo and might be Math are important for DAT)

Thank You very much for the help! 🙂
the soap carving part seems really hard..>_< I guess I'll just have to spend some of my summer break doing this then..
About the math part..I wonder if they also test u on university level math..
I heard some people saying high school level is enough or things like that..So I'm a little confused. Math is not a mandatory course required for my pre-school. So...I'm just wondering whether I need to do something about it or not..

Oh yes. Another thing I want to ask, since there's the US DAT and the Canadian DAT..I wonder if the materials and resources people posted works for the Canadian one too..

If I were you, I would ask DS (either US or Can) if they have any guarantee admission program. If they do, I will def. join one of those programs. It'll save you a lot of troubles later. Call DS and ask them until you are clear about this. Please call them.
(VCU has one).

About the DAT, there are some DS weight AA more than TS etc. but it doesn't mean they don't care about the rest. You have to do your best in all sections, not just 1 specific section.

Most people take the DAT around their 2-3rd year. The material on it is basic. You got the sciences, pat, qr, and rc. Most people study 3 MONTHS before the test using study resources. These study resources are good enough for scoring 20+.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: don't worry til your second, third year. You are way way way to early to thinking about the DAT now. 🙂

Okay. Thanks for the advise. I'll definately keep that in mind, and contact them once the break is over. Thanks again and Happy New Year! 🙂

Thanks. I've been looking through some of the stuff about DAT online. some portions seems really hard. I mean the PA area really freaked me out. I don't know how people can manage to get high scores and finish within the given time. But anyways, I guess I can try and get ahead on those kind of stuff, so once I'm in university I can put more effort into the science part. Thanks again and Happy New Year to U! 🙂

I forgot to ask..During those exams, r they on paper or on computer? r u allowed to bring any pencils, paper or high lighters to help u? what r u allowed to take with u?
