Hey everyone,

I don't want to be a neurologist anymore. I want to do Emergency med. i lvoed it as a student, I loved it as a transitional year resident and I am sure of this. I did well too and earned strong evaluations in both. I really want to and NEED to transfer into EM

How can I do this? Anywhere I can find openings? I dont care if my transitional year will count or not, I just don't want to go through the match again if I don't have to because I don't want to sit out a year. I want to transfer now...

I never wanted to be a barber anyway.... I wanted to be a lumberjack !

(Youtube: Monty Python Lumberjack Song).

Check this out.. it has a list of the spots that are open

http://www.saem.org/residency-vacancy-service

Also, I would talk to your PD. They can help, they should help. I would also speak to the PD of the EM program where you are at and see if they can offer some insight. In the mean time keep doing your best as a neuro resident. Outside of the openings listed above its the match..

Congratulations on your enlightenment! Now lose the bow tie and leather bag and get to work LOL.

Seriously - Agree with above. Start with your PD and share your concerns. Don't burn that bridge, and plan to work your best for the rest of the year (or next). Your PD may have recommendations for you, and may even put you in contact with the ED PD. If he/she does not offer to do so, speak with the ED PD to discuss transfer or get information. Don't ask permission, just be above board and let them know your intentions.
