I got an e-mail inviting me to 'Discover DMU' along with "all interested students, applicants, and advisors". I've been complete there since 7/11, and it's been a little over the 30 days they said it would take for a decision. *grumble*

No worries man. It has been over 30 days since I was complete as well. So I called them up and Danessa said that they are waiting for apps to pile up before they review them, so things will be slow moving for awhile. Most of the ppl with interviews got the automatic invite I suspect.

Alaina said the same thing when I called her today. Why give a specific timeframe if you're not going to meet it? Sheesh. 🙂

That's the word I got too when I called. I'm at my 30-day mark too. I thought maybe I was getting the brush-off 'cause of my less than stellar MCAT but looks like she's sincere 🙂

I wish I could discover DMU that day but I'm taking the MCAT far far away from Des Moines 2 days later 🙁

When I saw that email I thought I was getting an invite. I am very close to 30 days complete myself. Do you think going to the open house may help at all? What if they ask this in the interview and they are half n' half about you.....I need to stop tripping, but I will do whatever.

Just chill out guys, you're all complete very early in the cycle and your apps in. Things will work out, the admission staff here at DMU is really on top of everything. Enjoy this free time right now because, trust me, when you get here it's all over.

Please tell DMU that I love them and I'm sorry 🙁

Pick me!

Whoa, calm down, we haven't even been asked to pick our times yet to sit on your interviews...Be patient.

I forgot to mention that my class (2011) has the highest stats that has ever matriculated. Hope that doesn't stress any of you:meanie:

I am patient. It's obnoxious, though, when a school gives a very specific time frame and then just blows it off.

And yet not nearly as obnoxious as hosting a "Discover How Gay We Are" weekend that attempts to guilt applicants into visiting without offering an interview.
Isn't it a good idea to glean as much information from as many sources as possible about your potential schools of interest? I'm really missing how there is any "guilt" involved here. If you don't want to go, then don't go. I'd be floored if you could find a med school that didn't host open houses.

eh, ours had it the year before and, if that is any judge, try to score in the 90s on every test if you want to make the average :-D.

Is DMU a gay school?

All signs point that way. In addition to the SDN members who go there, [...]

It's pretty obvious.

Even Toohotinvegas33? If so, then recent evidence on this very thread would indicate that the gene for appreciation of irony and the gene for sarcastic savvy are not so tightly linked to the gay gene as was once thought.

Clever.....but considering the school is in a very conservative state such as Iowa, one shouldn't dream of such questions. In addition if someone could contact Tired's mom, please tell her I can't meet her for latenight "OMM" tonight.
