i need some advice....i failed step 1, just by a thread. i am a DO student....do i need to retake it? i heard that I don't have to report the score but, is there any way they can find out when I apply to my residencies and hold it against me. If I won't need it I would rather not retake it. I have not gotten my COMLEX score back yet. Please give your advice.

If you think you can blow the test away, then retake it. If not, dont worry about it, and dont mention that you took it unless asked. Just my opinion.

I would also agree with Idio. You don't have to report it and the DO spots you interview for won't ever know. I wouldn't waste the money to take it again. There are plenty of good DO spots out there in whatever you would like to do. Hope your COMLEX went well!

I would assume that they can find out, and I would never lie, if asked. I imagine that you would be asked only at interview, at which point your USMLE score becomes less important anyway.
