I am doing some biology work with animals and i get to shadow the onsite vet 1 to 2 days, 1 on 1. i did today and it was a great experience and i only spent like an hour or two with her. i was more of a premed guy but i dont really knew what i want. can anyone give me any advice on what to ask about, or look for, or do with a real vet? i would appreciate any input. thank you

dress professionally, ask questions when appropriate (ie not in front of clients or when the vet is doing something that requires concentration), and have fun!

What would you ask about, or do with a fake vet???😀😛

Ask whatever interests you. Other than that Pathbrd summed it up well.

lol i am in the middle of the jungle at an animal sanctuary, nobody here dresses professionally. i would if i were back home but not here its 100 degrees every day.

like more or less what i need to be looking for and asking about anything in particular? i actually got to help the vet apply lotion to one of the animals that has been injured. i am really looking forward to more experiences with the vet and more interaction with the animals.

thanks

I agree with all above advice. I have many friends who are deciding between MD and DVM too, so don't forget to see what the vet is doing and as if it's what you want to do (we're all here because it is), anything is shiny and new on a 2 day shadow, so think long term. Let us know how day 2 goes!

I probably missed the boat since this is a few days after your post, but I would also ask questions about the vet's positive and negative experiences. What does she think are the most difficult aspects of the job? Favorite parts of it? Ask her if she has any advice for you. And like everyone else said, just ask questions as you think of them (at appropriate times).
