I was processed 7/16 and no letter from Vandy. Although, I'm a little below their MCAT average, and a little above their GPA average. Darn MCAT scores...

I WISH!!! seriously, this is soooo neurotic of me, but i *really* like vandy, so not hearing anything is killing me!!!

oh, in case anyone else without an interview wonders: processed 7/7; gpa and MCAT above vandy averages.

my fingers are crossed so tight that i'm developing rheumatoid arthritis! there goes a career in surgery!

Hello - there's still hope, people! I got a Vanderbilt interview today - the letter was dated July 27, and it was postmarked August 4. So they're still out there! They're still scheduling August interviews. Good luck! Hope your mailmen are as good as mine🙂.

wow, that's awesome, congrats kathy80!

i guess this leads me to believe that perhaps vandy has already designated people for interivews, but is staggering the mailings to make sure there are no scheduling problems (i.e., everybody trying to schedule at the same time, etc.). hope is alive!

Has anyone had good luck with a hotel? Was it cheap? I might stay with a student, but I'm not lookin forward to the floor.

Vandy is one of my dream schools. I hope when I apply I get an interview.

Those of you who got early interviews at Vandy, congratulations! Its also a good sign. I was interviewed and accepted to vandy in the last cycle, and the school is absolutely fantastic, students are very happy, administration is very attentive to students' needs . If you are accepted they fly you out (free) for a second look weekend. Even though I decided to go elsewhere for financial reasons, i have a soft spot in my heart for vandy.

Just a warning - this is a long,long process. Be prepared for the long haul.

i hope to get a student host on sunday night and monday if possible. if i can't get a student host on monday night, anyone interested in splitting hotel costs. i dont care if i sleep on the floor.

my bf hosted while he was as student at case western and he treated his hostees very well. he had an extra futon and always took them out to dinner the night before. he even let this one guy stay 4 days. i'm just hoping i meet someone similarly cool with a couch. =)

Hey, I'm flying from New Jersey by USAir. I'm not sure what I'll be doing that evening to kill time. Is there anything to do in Nashville 😀 (I'm not much of a music buff).

For all the people with student hosting, did you arrange it with friends you knew or did you arrange it through the admissions office?

I'm kinda nervous about having Vandy as the first interview. The interview is also 60mins long instead of the typical 2 30mins interviews. Let's hope we all get chill interviewers 😎 .

i just booked my flight. N/s flight roundtrip from LAX $225 on the Southwest Airlines website.

Southwest is the cheapest ($99) each way if you can book your flight 3 wks out. It's $159 each way if you book your flight 2 wks out. I booked exactly 2 wks before my interview and nothing was available on southwest.

I screwed this up and had to go with northwest. paid almost 300d!

you notice though that for the $99 "one way travel" it says these things in details:

"This fare is available for one-way travel"

"Changes to any portion of the reservation (flight, dates, cities, and/or names of passengers) once purchased will result in the cancellation of the ENTIRE reservation and rebooking at the lowest fare available which could result in a fare increase. "

i'll give them a call, but has anyone had experience with this from before? no problems?

Current Vandy undergrad here. Greyline is a shuttle service that I think costs $9 one way. I've never actually used it so I don't know how often it runs. I usually just take a cab from the airport. You never have to wait long, and most drivers will take a flat $20 to go between the airport and campus. If you can find people to ride with you, your cab costs go down fast. Someone posted in another thread that cab fare was around $30, but I've gotta say, they were seriously ripped off. Good luck to all you early interviewers!

No they don't..they have public transportation but its not very reliable..they have taxis that are relatively inexpensive though. I lived there for 3 years
