Hi everyone this is my first time doing this. I am currently taking my pre reqs and all i have left is my physics class and two semesters of organic chemistry. I have a decent GPA 3.1 and have 5 W's and an F in in my first chemistry class. Personal reasons did not allow me to request a W. 🙁 what can i do to fix this i am gonna retake that chem class this semester. but am i screwed out of any school accepting me. im panicking please help.

Just make sure you get a better grade on the retake and also try to make at least A's in both organic so that your GPA will not drop past the 3.0 .. If you have a valid reason for all the W's, i believe the admins will take a second look at your application.

just retake ur F . it should be fine. unfortunately, pharmcas (pharmacy app) averages in both your original grade and ur repeat grade for GPA averages so even if u make an A youll end up with a (4+0)/2= 2:C average. but you should be fine because your GPA looks fine

I don't think you are screwed. Like you said, retake the class and try to get an A. Do your best in your remaining pre-reqs as well. Make sure that you explain why you have those grades in your PS or the additional essay when you're doing the supplemental apps.

5 W's will take just as much explaining as the F. However, nothing is impossible. It will require you to turn your habits around and raise your GPA. No more W's and F's would be a requirement for you.

I have quite a few Ws but they were due to medical isses.

I'm of the mindset that people can recover from just about anything, given enough time and determination. The F shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as you do well the next time and have a decent chemistry PCAT score. The Ws are a red flag though depending on the timing of them. If they all came in one semester and you have a good explanation, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. However, if they are all spaced around, then adcoms might question your ability to handle the courseload. That could be a big problem. The way you work around that is by doing stellar work from here on out.

If it's a one-time anomaly, you can address it in your personal statement / supplementals as well.

The problem will be convincing an adcom that five Ws (in the same semester?) and an isolated F don't represent a pattern of some kind.
