I didn't interview for Sullivan. I sent my pharmacy application in really early and when I checked my email today I was sent this:

I am pleased to inform you that the Admissions Committee has recommended your Admission into the Inaugural Class for July 2008. You must submit a transcript showing completion of outstanding coursework by the end of Spring Term 2008. Dean Tran will send you a formal letter inviting you to join the class as soon as the College receives authorization to formally enroll students. This should occur in later January 2008.

I am sooooooooo happy rite now!!!

congrats to you! i have a friend whose been trying for 3 yrs, and i told her about this school. i hope she gets in also!

i can't believe they are giving conditional acceptances without interviews...i wonder if they do this with everyone....

Wow! That's Crazy, without an interview!!! AWESOME! Congtads again!!! Maybe I'll see you there in the summer 🙂

I hate to rain on your parade, but a school CANNOT admit a student without an interview. It is a new ACPE standard for accreditation. If they don't follow the ACPE, they won't get accredited. It is a new rule that ALL students must be interviewed prior to an offer of admission.

Here's the link:

http://www.acpe-accredit.org/pdf/ACPE_Revised_PharmD_Standards_Adopted_Jan152006.pdf

Scroll down to page 36 (in adobe) page 29 of the actual book (number in lower right hand corner) under guideline 17.3. It is contained in the last paragraph of this page. I won't quote it since you will want to look at it for yourself.

Once again, I am sorry to do this, but I don't want you to be disappointed in the future.

I'm guessing they interviewed him last year, so they don't need to interview him again. Otherwise, it is a very sick joke by a school or prankster to do that.

Cool coollllll, Congrads!!!!!!!!!!!! Having fun from today on cos no more pressure. Congrads again.

Well, I'm assuming not, because in post #5, the OP states that they did not interview for Sullivan.

it was not a formal interview but a phone interview

We had one person who was interviewed on the phone by Hawaii pharm school, Hilo, last year.

In that article, it's stated that "using videoconferencing technology." is permitted.

Actually, phone interviews were permitted last year. These guidelines did not go into effect until this school year.

oink....what were your stats if you don't mind...! i also applied to sullivan and they told me that they would be sending applications to the committee in 2 weeks like an above poster mentioned. im so nervous!!! i just want to know what i will be doing with my life next year!

I am starting to think that the email is for future invitation to interview once the school have its visit. So scatched the part that I said I got in.

Then how come Michigan does not require an interview?

Does that mean interviews are not required for this year?

oops sorry I misread your post...

wow that's so f-ed up if u THOUGHT u got in but u didn't... or if they thought they can just admit u w/ a phone interview and they can't?????

good luck w/ everything!! persistance WILL pay off tho! 🙂

Man this pretty much sucks. did you or did you not get admission. They should make it very clear what they mean and quit playing with people's emotions. I really hope you got in or the interview is just a formality. Good Luck with everything.

I wonder if the school even knows about it. If not, someone should contact them and let them know or else they might not even be able to enroll students and that would really suck. Dr. Tran taught at LECOM, and they did phone interviews, maybe that's why they are also doing phone interviews instead of on-site interviews at Sullivan.

The ACPE visit has been scheduled from Oct 23-25. It's safe to say that they are aware of the ACPE guidelines.

Then how come Michigan does not require an interview?

I don't know, ask them. If you went to the link, you saw that they have to.

Oink, I'm sorry that I had to tell you all of this, but I thought you needed to know what's up. With persistence, you WILL get in. Don't give up.

Congratulations Oink!! I think you are fine. I think people try to put down others when they are doing well. Obviously the school would not have accepted you if it was incorrect. Do not question whether you got in or not and just be happy and stop reading what others are telling you. If you are unsure just call to confirm. But seriously, you got an acceptance and this is time for you to celebrate and not have some stranger tell you that you probably didn't get in. 🙂:hardy:

I have faith in you, oink. It won't be long before you're back in here telling us the REAL good news. ;-)

Uuummm, wrong. I'm already in school. And if you read the guidelines, you'll see what I'm saying. I would never put someone down about this kind of thing, because I've been there. However, if this happened to me, I would appreciate someone telling me, so that I could do some research.

Anyone brave enough to just call them and ask?

Anyone brave enough to just call them and ask?

I did. I spoke to the dean. The school has not given out any acceptances. However, admission committee has been calling applicants who are highly qualified to maintain their interest in the school. Emails also have been sent to some applicants who have been contacted. He will not disclose personal information of the applicants. No acceptances have been offered and won't be offered until pre-candidate status is given and all criteria are met in accordance to ACPE guidelines.

sorry everyone. From my interpretation, Sullivan and all new schools are free to interview and talk to anyone, just not give out acceptances. He sounded completely aware of everything that is in ACPE regulations including face to face interviews. he also sounded very serious about everything.

This school sure requires a lot. Curriculum Vitae??? They don't just require a resume, they require a curriculum vitae!!

They are the same thing....UK uses 'CV' and US uses 'resume'. CV has been more common in the US lately, though.

a cv outlines in paragraph form basically you and what you are hoping to accomplish it is kinda like how we submit an essay explaining why we want to get into pharmacy school that has like 300 words. a cv is kinda like that but the next page outlines your work not really including any dates, but lengths of time per say. underneath that there is 3-4 sentences explaining what you did.

not like bulleted form like a resume.

While a resume is brief and concise - no more than a page or two, a Curriculum Vitae is a longer (at least two page) and more detailed synopsis.
A Curriculum Vitae includes a summary of your educational and academic backgrounds as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations and other details.

here is an example: (i found it on the web, i dont know if it is real or just a template: http://student.ttuhsc.edu/jlee/files/cv-jameslee_public.pdf )

I know a CV is exactly as you mentioned but doesn't a personal statement already have all of that? I mean your educational and academic background, and why you want to get into pharmacy school. It'll be repetitive if you'll have that on your cv + a personal statement. I'll assume that besides ur personal statement, you'll have the brief and concise part which is your resume. Anyway, maybe I'm wrong

The CV isn't limited to 4000 characters. ;-)

This may be a stretch of the wording - But I was offered Conditional acceptance when Pacific contacted me. There may be something in their talking about conditional acceptances - which may not be considered a defined acceptance according to ACPE - granted, this is all speculation on my part. I tend to think the best of people - even here on SDN. There may have been some confusion - but typically it isnt difficult to differentiate between an invite & an acceptance.

~above~

i just got an email saying that Dr. Facione wants to schedule a telephone interview with me. Is this like a formal interview or what? Anyone have a telephone interview?
