I guess hearing nothing is better than a rejection...?

So...rejections are coming every day now? Sometimes it may be better to not get anything in the mail. It allows us to hold onto that dream just a little bit longer.

Just thought I'd look at the postive side of not hearing anything. 👍

that's exactly what someone told me yesterday. no news is good news.. perhaps when the ppl schools have accepted have withdrawn their applications, more interview invites will be sent out. that's probably gonna be a long time from now.

but it's not over until you get that rejection and i have to keep telling myself that.

I have a feeling I'm on "hold" status at most places. I've only gotten two rejections and I have been completed for a looooooong time.

Not to mention one of my rejections was from Mayo who apparently only has 42 slots.

I'd rather have a rejection so I'd at least know where I stand. I hate waiting for schools to give me a response 😡 Even getting a "you're on hold until we see if anyone better applies" is better than not hearing a darn thing.

This whole process is so stressful but we just have to keep our hopes up and hope for the best. I really rather be on hold than be rejected. No news (yet) could definately be good news 🙂

I have the impression that the schools that reject have already done so (Mayo, Georgetown, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Chicago, Wake etc) and that most of the others keep you in some hold pile until the spring when they have finished interviews. There really havent been many new schools on the rejection thread since september (new people but no new schools). If this is true, i wonder how long you can still hope to see an email crop up with an interview invite if you are in the first hold pile. in other words, if you didnt make the first cut- JAN? FEB? MARCH? since you have to schedule a few months ahead i would think by the end of the year they would be sceduling for march and so no news by then might be getting close to being the equivalent of a rejection. but its frustrating because i want to take the no news is good news approach but with most schools that seems to be what they do for everyone (for example- has anyone gotten rejected by tufts, columbia, virginia etc?????????????). so no news is just the standard there.

sucks to be in Texas, if you don't hear anything it's as bad as being rejected. They don't send out rejections until February.

Yeah, I also wonder about this with schools where i have been complete for a couple months... Especially since these schools are known to simply send pre-interview rejections in March. I don't know how many months of being complete is enough to be concerned about.

some schools are really too much!

i've been complete at:
NW 9/1
UCLA 9/13
Duke 9/20
Hopkins 9/2
UPenn 9/10

and heard nothing...

anyways, these are the schools i'm still holding on for. anyone else in the same boat? misery loves company. 😀 😀 😀

Those are all top-tier schools. They may take a while to "evaluate more of applicant pool" before responding to anyone. You have nothing to worry about.

I'm kind of discouraged now...
Has Tufts started reviewing anything? I didn't hear a single thing from them and I have been complete since September. NYU told me just today that they didn't have my LORs.
I am so frustrated I actually feel nauseous.

Tufts started interviewing last week.

I agree with this, especially since several of my schools DO NOT take people with 23Q MCAT scores. ie the UC's (Davis, Irvine, San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles) and Stanford. I only got a secondary for UCSF, and the others haven't breathed a word to me. Why don't they just reject me? Are they going to send me a secondary later . . . only to reject me later? What's that about?

I COMPLETELY agree. At least reject me so that I'm pressured into thinking about backup plans. As of right now, I just keep saying "what if . . ." and "I've done so much work already for applications, I don't want to apply to [insert backup option here]."

Exactly. Ahh, those UC's . . . exact same boat as you . . .But I got rejected from UCSF.

Oh yes, my friend. I'm still on hold for:

UPenn (8/9)
UVa (8/9)
Northwestern (8/6)
Wake Forest (8/6)
UChicago (8/10)

WTF??? I've seen some rejections from Northwestern and Wake, so why don't they hurry up and reject me so I can stop checking me email every ten minutes and almost throwing up when I get home and check my snailmail box every day? Bleah. This is so friggin' ANNOYING.
