I hate molecular biology. My class is 180 people and our average grade is a 47% 🙁 Our prof. has a PhD from Cambridge, and even he is trying to help us pass in the 3 weeks that we have before the final. Funny thing is, I met a Linguistics Major, who said that she thinks it's awful that we are all failing and that she doesn't think that the prof should help us cuz we're going to be her kids's future doctors. But of course she's a lingustics major so she doesn't know what a hard class is.

This class is screwing up my 3.6 sGPA that I have so far........

Will not doing good in this class (lets say I end up with a C in lecture and a B in lab) hurt me really really bad when I apply to dent school??

sigh......

well obviously it'll hurt your GPA if you get a C. But maybe they'll curve the class...

One C won't kill your chances. But I feel you about having a hard-to-understand prof. I've had my share.

I had a similar experience in physics. If you think a 49 ave is low our ave for all the test was between a 29 to a 32. Do not blame the professor... is not worth it not to say it is type of an excuse. Keep your head up and you should have noticed the tough road since the beginning of the semester. I did in physics, and i obtained the A. Is probably too late, but if you feel proud of your work, and indeed if you worked hard a simple C grade should not matter. We all go through something like that at one point in undergrad. Proof yourself in a more advance class and everything will go outstanding.

An english accent shouldn't really be that difficult to understand, and I don't think OP mentioned the accent being tough to understand. It seems like its just a difficulty of material situation.

Even though the average is low, are there people that do well? If so, see if you can get any advice from other students. However, in any situation, why don't you go talk to the professor? Regardless of what most students think, professors aren't put on earth to ruin your lives. Talk to him and see what he says.

If the 47 was the average, theyll curve the class with a 47 being a C most likely.
And dont sweat it. I got a D in molecular and cellular my first time (taking it again in the fall).

Also I had a class a year ago, average on the second exam was a 26/100. Choose the incorrect answers.

Dont base your grades off of a 90+ being an A, 80+ B etc. Base it off the curve and how other people did. Also ask the teacher how they grade the class. My orgo class, its a 90 for an A, 50 for a C...

I'm pretty sure they're not going to give everyone in the class a C or below. Find out who's making the highest grades and then base your standing off of that. If you're one of those people or around there, then you're in a great spot to make a decent grade. If not, find out what they're doing and study harder.

Undergrad is alot like Wal-Mart on black friday. You just have to fight your way to the front of the mob and you'll have a decent chance of landing that awesome TV for $5.

Don't worry about it at all. Your professor will definitely curve the class. Professors have pressure from school as well not to fail too many students.

Even if you got a C in the class, it's not end of the world.

My research mentor once told me about a hardcore Ph.D class he took. The class test average was about 15-20% at most. Many people even got single digit score. His test average was about 50%, and that's enough to earn him an A in the course.

At my school, average score earns you the grade between high C and low B, even if the average is at 50%.

No sane person would reject an application SOLEY based on 1 class. Thats just silly, your overall undergrad performance matters the most (you = 3.6 sGPA). This speaks volumes.

The bigger problem you will/have is if you start taking more of these higher end biology classes and getting only Cs in them. This will drop sGPA, then you can start worrying
