Is it necessary to be good at standardized exams, to do well on the GRE? I have not had much luck with them in the past?

Is it necessary to be good at standardized exams, to do well on the GRE? I have not had much luck with them in the past?

I am not sure HOW important they are considering other factors, but I can say I too despise them. The Kaplan CD GRE test prep (actually it was a 3 disc GRE, LSTAT and MCAT trio) REALLY helped me. Its timed which was the critical factor I was having problems with.
