I'm finishing up my first year, and in thinking about next year's courses I've hit a wall:

  • *I didn't take physics in my first year. Now, this wouldn't be a problem, but...
*In second year, I get two electives. Here's what I'm thinking:

Organic Chem I (half-credit) and Organic Chem II (Half-credit)
    Physics (half-credit) and Microbiology (half-credit)

    OR

Orgo I and II, and Molecular biology (full credit)

*Basically it comes down to molecular bio. vs. physics.

I personally would take physics. There's not much outside of cell & organismal bio plus a bit of genetics on the MCAT. Though some of the topics covered in microbio would be helpful, they are not a necessity. Physics on the other hand is a necessity. Perhaps you can take microbio at a later date?

It's not between microbio and physics, it's between molecular bio and physics. If I take molecular bio, I can't take microbio + physics; if I take micro + physics, I can't take molecular biology.

Molecular biology has a greater chance of being helpful than microbiology.

Edit: Oh it's between molecular bio and physics. In that case, take microbio + physics rather than only molecular bio.

Sorry! Physics > Molecular. I'd go with micro and physics.
