I don't think I understand your question. If you are a permanent resident of the US then why are you concerned about international status? Did you move from another country to the US? If so, are you now a citizen? I am not sure but I think even if you moved here from elsewhere and are now considered a permanent resident then you aren't considered an international student.

lmao of course not. ur a resident didnt ur immigration lawyer explain ur rights to u. u are entitled to pay in state tuition as citizens and not international students.

i graduated high school here in the us. but some schools say that person whose native language is not english needs to take toefl... damn it...

I am a PR as well. Being a PR can get the benefits from in-state tuition, but if you didn't attend any high school in the States, then you will need to take TOEFL. Since different states have different requirements, you may want to contact the school you are applying/attending to and find out.

I think you will be exempted if you take SAT.

Did you take any college level English courses ? I graduated HS here as well, but never took the SAT. I never even took the TOEFL here either, just put down on my application that I have taken English classes for english speakers and my grades for them. I think/but I am not sure, you would have to take toefl if you took ESL classes as your english requirements classes.

I think most schools in California require TOEFL, but not other states...so try to apply out of state if you are in Cali......

many schools requires tofel if your primary language is not English.
Regardless your citizen status.
but you are considered as a citizen.

I think you should be fine if you attended school in the US, but check with the school you're applying to. I didn't attend HS in the US and didn't have to take TOEFL, but the country I was born in speaks English so it was never really an issue. Besides, they can tell by talking to you if you need to take it or not.

Yeah just one, UT Austin. Hopefully I'll get in... still waiting on an interview invite. If I get rejected I guess I'll just get a job as a pharmacy tech and just apply again next year. I'd really like to start pharmacy school this year though...

I am living in Texas, going to graduate from University of Houston this semester. I took and passed the i-TOEFL offered by school back in 2004. It was a lot easier than the standardized TOEFL.

Oh...you are asking me what pharmacy schools I am applying to? Everywhere in Texas except UT. They all exempt by TOEFL requirement because I am getting my BS this semester. So I dun need to take it.

A PR is not considered as a citizen. You apply for citizenship after 5-year residence in your state.

Just call the schools that you're interested in and ask them under what circumstances you need to take the TOEFL.

For example, for UOP if you've been living here the last 6 years AND will have a Bachelor's upon enrolling, you probably won't need the TOEFL.

BUT if you've taken ESL within the last 4 years, YOU MAY need TOEFL. These are only for UOP.

so wat are the chances of an Internation Student being accepted? im guessin its pretty low correct?>

actually, a friend of mine, who has a green card (PR), was notified by Western U that she had to take TOESL b/c she did not have her bachelor's degree by the time she applied...so she applied in nov, grad in dec-->still no exception. so if i were u, i would check with the school

If you are a permanent resident, you do not require to take TOEFL in most schools. If fact if you ever taken SAT, ACT, GRE and did well in verbal section/reading comp of PCAT and you are happy with it, then you do not need to take it. However, if taking TOEFL can increase your chances getting into program - you can still take it and many schools will accept it as well. I guess it all depends on the program...

Thanks for all your inputs - I am a PR but have been eligible to become a citizen for about a year now. Just didn't have money to apply - it costs now like ~ $700 for the application + fingerprints. I guess I'll apply now since I really don't want to have TOEFL.

Cheb, it's totally worth it 👍

I became a US citizen ~1 year ago and I'm so glad I did. I finally truly feel American and I get to vote! I'm so excited to be able to vote in the upcoming elections!!! My first presidental election that I actually have a say in, woohoo!!!

Because I applied to Cali schools only, I only know about them.
Western and UOP required TOEFL from me (no Bach. degree at the time of application, PR, etc).

TOEFL is EASY, so you should not worry about that part. Just make sure you know and add all the schools and pharmcas to the list when you register. That way test scores will be send to school free of charge. If you add them after you took the test, you pay like 10-15 $ per school. I took i-TOEFL and paid ~130$.
In addition, there is a practice test posted on EST web-site.
So do not let TOEFL requirement to stop you from applying to a school.

Good luck!
