Hello. of course by the title of my thread you can guess I am new member to this forum. My questions is I have alot of W's, mostly from my General ED's and a couple from science. I still starting out in my science courses and still trying to raise my GPA to where I want it to be. If I come out of this with a competitive GPA will the amount of W's on my transcript hurt my chances of getting into any Pharmacy College?

Normally, pharmacy school applications or interviews give you a chance to explain any grade abnormalities. If you have a good reason and have proven yourself by not getting anymore W's from here on out you should be okay (depending on the school, as I have heard of people getting "drilled" about such matters).

This topic has come up before.

Our mods are currently working hard to improve the quality of the posting experience here at SDN and we can all do our part by searching a topic and just bumping that one up instead of posting a new one!

Even if it does look bad, there's not much you can do about the W's now. I wouldn't let the W's bother me much because there's nothing that can be done to get rid of them. Just work hard now and you'll probably get in somewhere. If not, maybe you weren't meant to go to pharmacy school. That's kind of how I'm starting to look at things. What else can you do.

I really want to become a pharmacist and I would be willing to start my pre req's all over again to make my transcript look better. I do have reasons for this but I don't think any reason is good enough. I will work hard and leave the rest up to god.

You can't just "start over" because when you apply through PharmCAS it asks you for the grades you have received in EVERY class you have taken post high school. If you choose to be dishonest and not post ALL of the grades, this would disqualify you form admittance to a college of pharmacy if they were to discover this.

What I mean by "starting over" is that I have read that a student can completley withdraw from college start from the beginning with there general ed's, everything basically and it might not show up on there record. I read students do this due to a bad year and want to start off with a clean slate and to start over with there GPA as well. Yes it is true that you probaly have to show every grade which you received before or any other instutuition which have attended before. I am not sure if would not consider this or not, it depends on how much truth behind this, but I will continue to do the best that I can do to reach my goal.
