I have an application dilemma

So the pre med committee at my school says we have to have a certain GPA to get a committee letter. I did not reach the GPA requirement (I already graduated fyi). They will not give me back the LORs so I can apply to a post bacc/smp program. They pretty much gave me the ultimatum: complete another bachelors degree to raise my GPA (she suggested neuroscience. I'd only need 8 classes) or ask the professors to write another letter and go ahead and apply to the post bacc program (we all know how hard it can be to get ahold of professors)

Im not sure which option I should go for. My college is 4hrs away and it would be a lot of money to have to move back up there and pay for school. Asking the professors is hard too, because again, Im 4hrs away lol I just cant leave whenever to go up there and try to get the letters. :/

I'm not sure if you're going to apply to a postbac or to DO school, but regardless a 2nd bachelors is overly drastic for an LOR that is not required if you can get 2 science professors to write you letters.

I would contact the professors who wrote the letters directly, via email or phone, and ask them to submit the letters to interfolio or whatever service. They cannot prevent a professor from writing you a letter. Do not bring the dean into this, it will not end on your side anyway. If the school has a policy, the dean will uphold it. Also, what is this minimum GPA requirement? If you didn't meet it, you may not be very competitive for med school without some more coursework.

The GPA requirement is 3.3. I have a 3.24

Wow...this sounds like a terribly unsupportive school. :-(. I'm sorry to hear you have to deal with that. What if you do grade replacement for a class or 2 and get your cumulative GPA above the 3.3 requirement? Then would they stop holding your letters hostage?

The thing is, I already graduating without knowing they'd hold my letters hostage lol

Can't you just take a couple more classes at the same school after you graduated to raise your GPA? I don't understand why you need to complete another major. I also do not understand how you can add a major to your bachelors degree after you graduate. You should not be able to get a second bachelors degree with only 8 classes.

A 3.24 is pretty low, unless you have an extremely solid upward trend, or some reason for a low GPA. You should be thinking about taking more classes anyway. Repeat anything that is a C or lower. You don't have to take these classes at this university, whatever is close to you, if there is something, would be fine. Again, no reason not to ask your profs directly for the letters, but be sure they're solid. And no need to do a formal post-bacc, but you should think about retaking some courses...
