So do you mean 15 allopathic, or both allopathic and osteopathic?[/QUOTE][QUOTE=" You are competitive for many DO schools so apply to at least 15 and you should receive some interviews. Include many of the newer schools.
You really are not competitive for MD. Follow gyngyn's advice and apply to your state school and 15 DO schools. Do you have any service to your community (non clinical)? What state do you call home? Oh a FYI- your MCAT score is about a 26 on the old score table.

Ouch!I don't have any non-clinical service to my community, and I'm from Maryland.
15 DO schools.
I'm from Maryland
Ouch!
Maryland's 10th% MCAT is 29 and they only matriculated 11% of IS applicants (worse than CA).
There's an amazing exodus of applicants from my neck of the woods (Eastern MD) towards our West Virginia neighbors. It's pretty fascinating to see: "oh yeah, I just thought it'd be pretty cool to take a research position at WVU during my gap year!"Unknown to many, Maryland is actually one of the hardest states for an allopathic med school applicant

Literally going from the worst state in the country for MD admission to the best out there by a decent margin. All in an hour long car ride. Marshall guarantees an IS interview to anybody with above a 3.5/26 and accepts over half of their IS applicants they interview I believe. 2/3 of people who apply from West Virginia get into an MD school and they have some of the lowest average stats for applicants of any state. And they have two state schools in case you botch the interview at one of them. Just gets more and more incredible the more you sit back and think about it.
Yes, it was my first official MCAT. I took about 8 FLs, (did practice question drills, etc. )and my first FL score was 487, which steadily increased to about 501 on my final FL.Was this ur first mcat?
I think you should continue studying for the mcat and retake it sometime in May or June.
I did that and I wasn't too late in the cycle. Retake the mcat in June and submit your amcas in June as well. Your amcas should be verified by the time your score comes out and you should be able to add schools in time.
If you find out that your score is still not competitive for MD, you can shoot for DOs. I don't think you should give up on MDs just because of one bad mcat especially when you still have time to retake it.
PCOM is big on service. You've got a decent amount of volunteer hours, so maybe they'll bite. They're more of a "whole applicant" school than a numbers school- wouldn't even give me an interview with a 73 LizzyM lol...What about PCOM? Would I be competitive for them?
How about WVCOM?PCOM is big on service. You've got a decent amount of volunteer hours, so maybe they'll bite. They're more of a "whole applicant" school than a numbers school- wouldn't even give me an interview with a 73 LizzyM lol...
So do you think applying to West Virginia would be worth a shot?
Fair enough, I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the advice!WVU and Marshall are worth the Hail Mary
