What is the difference between getting an MSW or a MA in counseling to get an LPC? Is one degree better regarded then the other? Is one better in terms of job oppurtunites and flexibilty?

I wish I could get my hands on some of the prior posts- they describe it better than I probably will. I also recommend looking at the sticky of FAQs. At the end of the day (at least lately), they're not hugely different. LPCs tend to do more counseling/"life-coaching" (for lack of a better term) type work, MSW/LCSWs do all kinds of work. An MSW is generally considered to be a more flexible degree, and some workplaces do put more stock in an MSW, although that's beginning to change.
