Hey guys! I know by now you all are probably annoyed with all the chance me and school list advice but if you guys could help me out that would be awesome!

oGPA - 3.5
sGPA - 3.4

DAT scores: 22AA/23TS/18PAT
Also I am a minority if that helps?

I am from Virginia and would prefer to be close to family. Also, I can only afford to pay for 5 schools so...here is the list!

VCU, UMD, Rutgers, UPenn & one more?

Can't apply to Howard since I have CC credits.

What are my chances?
Thankssss in advance! 😀

GPA is a replica of mine. You killed the DAT. (I have not applied yet, taking DAT soon).

From what I read on here, you should get in with your stats alone. Apparently being a minority helps, but I never really pay attention to that.

Lol what a coincidence! I'm sure you will do great! 🙂

So should I stick with applying to 4 schools instead of 5? I'm already nervous about it since most threads show people applying to 7 and more schools.

I would apply to as many possible schools you can afford. I couldn't even think of a list now besides my top 5, but I am thinking of applying to ~15.

I think the problem is the proximity you would like to be with your home. I'm sure some other posters could be of more help, but I would start thinking about what would happen if you got accepted far away.

Best of luck!

I would throw in a OOS friendly school for the last option. Sure, they are further away from the preferred location, but it's worth it for an acceptance

MWU-AZ and Minnesota come to mind for me.

I have a similar DAT score (22AA) and a 3.7 but I applied to 11 schools. I say apply to more but I could be wrong, but that was the general consensus from everyone I asked.

Wow with such high GPA you are applying to 11 schools? Yea, I'll consider applying to more :/

Add UMd (in Baltimore, MD)

Case Western in Ohio. I loved the school, and the school should be within driving distance of home for you!

You have really good DAT scores, but unless you truly can't afford it, I'd really try to apply to 8-10 schools.

He's right. Your stats are pretty good by itslef already. Being a URM will increase your chances dramatically. This is because schools WANT minorities. Most of them get in with 3.0 GPAs and 18 AA.

I just realized that South Asians are not considered minority in dental school. FML
