Hello all,

I searched around and didn't find anything recent on this topic. I am applying this summer and plan on taking the kaplan course from May 5th to some time in June. Then I plan on going over Crack DAT PAT, cliffs AP bio, and destroyer. So I was thinking of taking the DAT towards the end of July. I recently spoke with the admissions guys over at NSU and they said if it's in by August 1st then you are fine for the first round of interviews. They told me just make sure your application is in on June 1st minus the DAT and LOR.

So I'm treading water wondering if this is somewhat realistic for all other schools or should I take the DAT by the end of June and not go with there advice.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

-Matthew

It all depends on how strong your application is. Some people turn in their apps in Nov. and are fine because they have the GPA/DAT/extra curricular activities. Remember it takes 3-4 weeks for the scores to be physically sent to the schools but some schools like NSU are okay with receiving faxed scores. If that's what the admin says at NSU then take their word and know that they are one of the schools that start interviewing early...along with Case, Midwestern, Louisville etc.

In short, take the DAT when you feel prepared. It seems like you're leaving yourself a good 4/5 weeks which should be plenty of time especially after taking the kaplan course....but you know yourself better than anyone. July is not late at all, but be sure to keep up with the rest of the process including secondary apps and payments.

Thanks for the quick and detailed reply. This is my first time applying and it already seems so stressful. I just finished my PS and now am signing up for the DAT and figuring out which schools to apply to.

Thanks for your help,

-Matthew
