I have an A+ in EVERYTHING, a&P1, its lab, bio 1 retake, microbio and lab, all A+, EXCEPT for SPANISH1, I HAVE A D, that will turn into an F soon!!!!
Im a senior applying, so aacomas is already sent in!!!

Am i doomed? 🙁 will i be rejected now based on that spanish grade? 🙁

Thanks so much for taking the time to help me

hmmm well it's a D that you know will be an F? What is really going on here? Are you just not going to class? I'm not going to give you comfort and say everything is going to be okay because I'm not sure how schools handle incoming grades. Maybe others have more advice for you but I would just like to know more of where you went wrong.

I am choosing to withdraw at this point, which gives me a WF, but only the F will show up on my transcript. I didnt make it to class for a while because of work, and getting sick. I did very well throught the first half but the second half slipped. Im so mad at my self. I will be able to still have a complete degree, beacuse i took a language in highschool.

no schools have sent me an acceptance yet, but maybe if i said it was a withdraw, and that im retaking......so stressed, dont know how i let it happen!!!!

You're going to have to explain this on your application. If you were ill, you were ill, but why didn't you drop the class if you'd missed so much before waiting until the end of the term?

I had an a average for the first 5 weeks, then i tanked it 🙁 Its a blended course, and i got locked out of the exam three times, for the first she set it, but for the second two she said "You should know by now". I got locked out b/c i pressed "Backspace" w/o having my cursor in a text box. '

MY PLAN: I will prob not hear back until early next semester, when I will already be retaking this course, so i can have a signed letteer/note saying i withdrew and that my current average in the same class is >>>>hopefully an A.

I feel that this is my best option, versus finishing the course and getting a D. A withdraw i feel would make it not all my error. Please let me know!!! I cant stop fraking out!! So scared 🙁 😳

A withdraw is regarded similarly to an F (the general rule of thumb), but is better than taking a failing grade if you can explain on your secondaries exactly what happened. I'd provide the letter too, if you can.

Withdraw if possible and take during summer. No sweat.

BTW, an "F" is not the same thing as a W--not even close. There is NO "rule of thumb" for this.

I would take the W and retake. It is not the end of the world.

They aren't getting a normal W, they are getting a WF which ACCOMAS counts as an F. Why not, before you withdraw, go talk to your teacher and see if you have ANY chance of bringing your grade up. Tell them your predicament, and see if there is any extra work you can do that might boost your grade, and get a tutor ASAP. You should be able to understand the content in Spanish 1...it is mostly just vocab. I mean, if you are going to get it counted as an F, you might as well try and salvage the grade. I'm not on an adcomm, but they aren't dumb, and I think the withdraw would look just as bad as a D, if not worse. They know the only reason for a withdraw this late in the semester is because you are going to get a horrible grade...and then it would bring up your judgment...I would ask, if they couldn't figure out they were going to do bad by the normal withdraw date, or just didn't care to withdraw before then, that shows a serious lack of understanding. I don't think they would think it "wasn't all your fault". If you got sick and had to miss a lot of class you should have gone to the teacher then and tried to work something out. I don't really understand what you mean when you say it is a blended course and you got "locked out" of a test...but you should have gone to your teacher THEN or withdrew then... I am not trying to be mean, I am just stating things as I think adcomms will see it. I think if you could pull that grade up to a C it would look A LOT better than a WF. GO TALK TO YOUR TEACHER and rock your final. If you do end up with a C you can still retake, and send a letter saying your average is an A next semester. Just my opinion though.

Hey!! thanks for your help

I have been talking to the prof, told her everything that is happening, i even went to her when i got locked out of the online exam, she said "sorry, nothing can be done" So i talked to the dean, he said its up to the professor.

So i am stuck...speaking strictly numbers...its gonna be a D no matter what....

BUT!!! I did talk to a few schools today and they said it was actually not a huge issue, as long as other grades were for science were good, which they are, pre-finals :xf:

Hopefully, itll be something they notice, but do not put too much weight on like they have indicated, but im still a little upset about how little a professor can care. I attended a private college and then transferred to my state school in FL. HUGE diff in how much profs care. Im sure this is diff up north...where schools generally tend to be better. But, i should count my blessings in that the schools do not seemed overly concerned!! Thanks bunches for all of your help!! 🙂

I don't agree with this at all. I don't know where you are getting your rules of thumb but my experience with withdraws were not so intense, although a WF is way different from a W. I had 4 W's on my RAP sheet. Calculus twice! And a few other random college classes. I didn't mention a word about it in any secondary or anything. Only one interviewer asked me about calculus, I explained that I made an A the third time around and he laughed. He didn't seem concerned with the W's. Bam, I got in.

I would withdraw and retake it and make an A. Enough said. Or just go down with the ship and retake it. Just make a A!

I had to because of the title.

OP, what you need to do is go speak to the professor and beg him/her to let you drop this late in the game. The professor has been through undergrad and grad school. They know it isn't easy. If you already have an acceptance on hand, show them. They may be lenient in letting you drop or at least to give you an incomplete and let you re-take it. Don't accept the "D" or "F" since it won't do you any good.

hahahahah you got straight A+s and you are afraid you wont get into med because of a D/F/W....

I am well aware that you already know this, yet I will emphasize it again just like the other people did (for some reason people actually responded)

YOU WILL BE FINE for **** sakes

I had two Ws and a D and I got into two med schools

Again, YOU WILL BE FINE
